@808love: Totally agree. I don't say healthy since I'm not sure my kid understands that concept yet. But I totally say things like "you have to eat your chicken because it's good for you, eating your chicken will help you have strong muscles so you can kick the soccer ball really far".

I am going to tell my kid peas are healthy for you. That is a fact. I am in the business of nutritional education with my family. Saying they are yummy and fun to eat are opinions I may or may not share. Definitely want to send the message that eating healthy foods enables us to have more fun! Regardless, my child can know the truth about peas for their own good.

This list is so random. Some I agree with, but most I rolled my eyes.

Some of these really hit home for me today. Had a really rough night with my 4 year old- so important for me to remember that I need to be the calm one, that she isn't responsible for my feelings... but obviously I would NEVER tell her she's fat, etc- there is good advice in there alongside some crazy stuff.

Man, this list is all over the place. I'm pretty sure that telling my kid "don't do that" and telling her "you're fat" don't belong in the same category......

I had to stop clicking through I was rolling my eyes too much...seriously me telling my child "you're so smart" is a bad thing? I'm trying to raise intelligent girls who don't believe the only thing that matters are their looks.

I don't agree with this list at all, a child needs to know when their parents is unhappy with their behavior, this list pretty much denies a parent of that. Don't agree!

I don't agreee with "I'm disappointed in you"
I think it's important for my child to know that as parents and a society, we have expectations for behavior that involve being good and kind. When he fails to meet those expectations, it's important he understands why we are upset and disappointed in the actions he chose. A few weeks ago, he bit a little girl who is a good two years younger than him at daycare. You think I wasn't going to say how disappointed I was? That I know that he knew it was wrong and that I wish he had chosen kindness?
I'm not saying that over a test score or something, but over situations where people get hurt because of something my child did.

That's a stupid list to title it never, ever. I saw it on Facebook a few weeks ago and no one seemed to be a fan. Some of them are true but some of them are a good reach

Like the one says 'get ready' is too unspecific and stresses kids out and is ineffective and they need to be told specifically what to do. Sorry, morning routine is the same every morning, at 5 and almost 3 they know what steps need to be taken and just need reminders to stop playing around till theyre ready to go.
Whoever made this list seems to think kids aren't capable of any thinking on their own or have any emotional awareness other than their own feelings.

I just read this and wow, I'm guilty of few ... especially #15. Sometimes I wonder if these things are written by actual parents.
