@BabyBoecksMom: Thanks, that sounds like a good idea too! I'm going to try some of the other stuff first since Baby Brother has actually never had a bottle and I kind of hate pumping, but will definitely keep it in mind as an option.

@BabyBoecksMom: I think we are going to try this once the teething is over. We did a bottle the other night to see if she was really eating or comfort sucking and she drank all 4 ozs.

@Baby Boy Mom: I actually started giving my daughter bottles at night around that time instead of nursing, because I felt like she was waking to comfort nurse, and get a snack at the same time. It seemed to do the trick because she stopped waking so frequently after a few days.

@Smurfette: Teething is no fun :( I don't think that's our issue though.

@threeplusme: That's a good point! He has been pulling to a stand and has been trying to practice that all day long.

@smurfette might be right about teething. I went through a rough patch when my daughter's 1st teeth were coming in. She would nurse anytime she could. Also he may be getting ready for a new skill is he starting to crawl? I found that each new skill meant a sleep disruption. Hope this phase passes quickly:)

@JerricaBenton: Ok- trying it right now since he just got up from his morning nap. I came home today (no errands) so that he would have a solid first nap since we just transitioned from 3 to 2 and I'm trying to rule out over-tiredness just in case.

@Corduroy: :( I'm not sure we're ready yet for full blown CIO but if he keeps this up we might have to....

R will be 6 months next week and is waking up twice again to eat :( It stinks. She is teething too, so I am not sure if the pain is causing it or not. Mom is tired.

No advice but you aren't alone!

@Baby Boy Mom: maybe try and offer 15 minutes closer to the previous feeding and then squeeze in an extra before bed? Or offer every 2 hrs in the morning to try and squeeze in another feeding. LO averages every 2 hrs with a few longer stretches for naps with her last feeding between 8 and 8:30 but it sounds like your LO might go down earlier, which I get why you wouldn't want to mess with that.

@Baby Boy Mom: I'm up with you too. We're trying to let LO (also 6 months) fuss/CIO when she wakes at 10 and 12. I feed her when she wakes at 3 or 4 since she's always had a feeding at that time. I wish I knew how to help her get back to longer sleep periods.

@JerricaBenton: That's a good idea. I'm not really sure when to fit in another feeding though...He usually nurses around 7, 10, 1, 4, 6, 7. Thoughts? Growth spurts are always a possibility....or maybe he's just in the habit of eating at night now but I'm not sure how to break that habit.

Literally could have written this post myself, except for sharing a room with toddler. He eats whole meals when he wakes but I know he can go longer without food. I am only worried because he has not been eating as much from the bottle at day care so I think he is making up the calories at night. I don't want to let him be hungry but this isn't sustainable. Last night he woke up 4 times! SOOOOO Tired!

@Baby Boy Mom: hmm maybe he really is hungry then. Have you tried getting one more feeding in during daytime hours? LO eats 7 times a day and if for whatever reason she only gets 6 in, I can guarantee a night or early morning waking. Maybe he's having a growth spurt.

@edelweiss: So I'm not getting anywhere near 15 minutes...maybe 5 tops. I might just have to try to let him go longer tonight since my toddler doesn't have preschool tomorrow and could sleep in if he wakes up?
He won't take a pacifier...

@JerricaBenton: Yup, I've tried rubbing his back. But maybe I'm not giving it enough time? I'm just afraid of waking up my toddler so maybe I'm going in preemptively? If/when I pick him up he just starts smacking his lips and lunging for the boob. :/

based on advice i read on hellobee, i gave LO about 15-20 minutes before feeding him to see if he would settle down on this own. this would usually happen when he would wake up after only a couple of hours, when i knew he could fairly consistently go for longer. he usually settled down. however i don't know if that would be hard if he is sharing a room?

i've read of some other folks offering a pacifier or other soothing to see if that works instead of feeding.

Do you try just going in and rubbing his back or rocking when he wakes up? LO hasn't eaten in the night for a while so I always try rubbing or rocking if she wakes up and she almost always goes back to sleep.

LO is 6 months old and is waking every 3 hours at night (before the 4 month regression we would get an 8-9 hour stretch). A few days ago we moved LO into the crib in his older brother's room (2 year old) thinking that co-bedding might be the issue and hoping that it would help night wakings but it has not gotten any better! It seems that he is actually hungry as he has a decent feeding every time but he's a big boy so I feel like he should be giving us at least one longer stretch. I seriously feel like I have a newborn in the house again and the fatigue is so hard.

Any ideas? Should I be pushing more solids? Letting him fuss longer? Something else I'm not thinking of?
