She goes down at about 730-830 and she's up between 730-8. Right now she's on 2-3 naps. bedtime depends upon what time she wakes from her last nap. I don't let her nap later than 6pm and she usually goes down between 2-4 hours after her last nap.

For example, she woke from her nap yesterday at 3:50 pm. So I put her down for the night at 7 because she was showing me tired signs.

BUT (and this is a BIG but), she still wakes up 4 times per night and she always wakes about an hour after I put her down for the night. I usually nurse for all wake ups (I wish I could stop but we live in a studio and any other arrangement just isn't logistically possible at this point).

I once read somewhere that you should have a fixed wake up time but a flexible bedtime, depending on their naps that day.

My cousin has a baby the same age and she goes down at 730 and wakes up at 730 with zero night wakings. I'm super jealous! She's on two naps but in the process of dropping the third nap.

@sapphire: I think the last nap is the problem. It is around 5 or 6pm. Then he tries to take a 10min nap around 9pm. Over the weekend I took away the 9pm cat nap. That resulted in him going down around 9:30 last night! So maybe we are on to something!

@Littlebit7: He takes his last nap around 6pm. Every now and then he tries to take a 10 min nap around 9pm. So over the weekend I tried keeping him awake during the 9pm nap. Last night that resulted in him going down at 9:30. So a little progress was made

My now 8.5 month old was going to bed at 8/8:30 (still is). She set that bedtime though, she never fusses unless she is hungry or tired ( her!!!), and at 8pm, she is usually DONE. Then she sleeps until around 8am.

6:30pm-6:30am at that age. I wouldn't let them sleep in that much. Mine was napping 3 naps still at that time although short ones. When is the last nap? I wouldn't let mine sleep past 4pm or else nap would run into bed time.

Mine goes to bed at 8. During the week we are up between 6-7 to go to daycare. On weekends it's more like 7:30. He will be up for about 45 minutes and then takes an hour nap. I would try waking him up earlier and putting to bed earlier, but in small time increments.

She goes down anywhere from 8-9pm. It's tough on weekends so sometimes she'll tire earlier without the drive from daycare power nap. During the week she's up around 6:30ish. Weekends vary. We've had bad ones where we've taken her to bed with us early morning to try and get more sleep. This past weekend she slept till 7:45ish on her own.

Can you just start the day when he gets up at 6am to eat? At 6 months, they're only awake for a little over an hour anyway before they need a nap. Perhaps if you fed him and popped him in a high chair while your toddler is eating breakfast and just stimulate him with lots of bright daylight, etc. He will probably be tired for that first nap but you can probably get him to adjust in a few days.

That would effectively push your clock back 3 hours, so that the natural bedtime for your baby would be around 8pm, close to when the toddler goes to sleep. You could give him a bedtime feeding and then if the baby wakes again at 3am to feed, that would be more of a traditional MOTN feeding time. Alternatively, you can put the baby down at 8pm, give him a dreamfeeding at 11pm or whenever you would go to bed, and then hope he sleep through til 6am.

She goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes around 5:30 or 6. And still up to nurse at least twice overnight. Bedtime is the only sleep-related thing we've got down!

@ldh112: he just doesn't seem the least bit tired. If you do put him down he cries. He will eat again around 10. I didn't have this with my first baby so it's new. Been hard because the toddler goes down at 8:30 and wakes at 6. So I'm tired and ready for a change!

She goes to sleep between 830-9 and wakes around 730. Until about a month ago her bedtime was between 9-10 and it just naturally shifted. Does your baby fight being laid down earlier or just not act tired until 11? That would be a tough bedtime for sure! I wish I had some pointers.
