What about a silicone feeder? It feels sort of like skin, I think. I don't think there's much you can do besides acting preemptively.

@rahlyrah: you can try frozen foods, or even just ice in a mesh feeder? C loves frozen berries that way, but of course berry juice gets everywhere eventually. You could freeze purees?
I was thinking your LO might like cloth if he didn't like the plastic or rubber. Have you tried a teether that has bristles? C has one at his Nana's that he loves. He'll rip it across his gums pretty hard! I think it would hurt, but it must feel good! We also have the little banana shaped training toothbrush that he likes.

@JoyfulKiwi: I use the natural version of oragel and Tylenol/Motrin when needed. Any other recommendations?

@cmomma17: He won't put anything in his mouth but skin, whether it be ours or his own! I haven't tried a frozen food though, maybe he will be more inclined if it has flavor. Would it be a choking risk? He is still on purées.

Holy cow? Five teeth?! Go, little man! E doesn't have any yet.

I've read that some people will disengage, then redirect to a paci or end the nursing session. I'm not sure how well that goes over at this age, though.

I think he's too young to understand, I'm sorry :( my LO still likes to chew on everything at 8 months but he's only working on his first tooth.
Have you tried a cold wet washcloth? Or foods like frozen waffles or mini bagels?

I don't think, at 6 months, verbal commands will stop him from biting again. At least, it didn't work for my guy at that age. I think you're right about it being teething - that's when F goes on biting rampages too. We didn't figure out a way to stop him from biting before he started.

F uses a pacifier, so when he would bite I'd tell him "I won't let you bite me, but you can bite this." It works better now that he's older. Do you use any teething pain relief with him?

My LO's biting has gotten out of control. He not only bites when he nurses, but he also just randomly bites arms, the tops of my boobs, noses, etc. It is both painful and annoying!

He is teething like crazy (5th tooth is coming in now) so I know it is probably because his teeth hurt, but is there any way to stop this behavior at this point? Is he even old enough to understand, "No, don't bite?" Sometimes when he bites really hard we yelp in pain and he cries, but it doesn't seem to deter the behavior.

He is biting multiple times a day at this point. Is this fixable or just something we need to ride out until teething is over? He has no interest in Sophie, teething rings, etc. He just wants to teeth on mommy and daddy.
