Omg. This is my life right now. I've been texting with dh (he works out of town) about how lo is freakin out every time I put her down. I haven't caved and nursed her, but I'm about to let her sleep on me so I can get some sleep. I just don't know what to do and I'm hoping we can figure it out soon.

@NovBaby1112: I could have written this thread. We finally got to a place where we were able to put L down awake, he was soooo good at falling asleep on his own. He woke up 2 times a night for quick feeds. It was glorious. Then, all of a sudden, a few days ago, he started waking up around 4:30 and not going back to sleep until 5:30ish... Then, he started not screaming when I would put him down at night. Then naps... Now I have to nurse him sleep each time, sometimes twice. I'm going insane! I was up about 6 times last night!

I can't even do modified CIO because my kid would cry all night if I let him. He doesn't do 15 minutes and then calm down, he will cry until he can't anymore.

I feel like I am going to have to do CIO all over again! Rawr. I am a little happy it's not just me and mine going through this! Even though it sucks so bad ...

@QBbride: so, we ended up sleep training a few weeks after I wrote this, around 6.5 months. I basically stayed in the room with her until she fell asleep, picked her up 3 times when she was hysterical, but put her back in crib when she calmed down. gradually moving closer to the door and away from crib each subsequent night. She caught on fairly quickly, and we were then able to put her down awake and she woke 1-2 times a night for awhile for a quick nursing session, eventually dropping them around 11 months.

If you look at one of the last threads I started, I got some really good advice from @Silva. NCSS just thoroughly pisses DS off now, so we are having to move on to trying something else.

@hilsy85: Thanks for the additional information and the suggestion of Ferber's book. We're just kind of dipping a toe in the water - I just feel like we have to do something because she's having trouble settling and sometimes ends up crying in our arms anyway, so I figure if she's going to cry she may as well be learning to sleep.

At this point I don't think we'll do extinction, but I didn't think we'd do CIO so who knows.

@Revel: so we followed ferber's plan, more or less--checking in at intervals (3 min, 5 min, 7 min, etc). And then you stretch out the intervals night2 and 3. The BIGGEST thing we did was separate nursing from sleeping, so nursing was no longer the last thing we did before bed, so it wasn't a sleep crutch. I know a lot of people say the checks only made their LO more upset--I think it really depends on your LO. For me, he woudl ramp up as soon as I left the room, but then calm down.

I feel like I say this on every sleep post, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND reading Ferber's book, Solve your child's sleep problems. EVen if you don't end up doing his method/any sleep training, he has so much good info in there about infant sleep in general, all research based stuff.

Bumping this thread - my DS had been sleeping pretty well, asleep by 7pm, dream feed at 10pm, wake to feed at 4am, up for the day at 6:30ish...

The last few days he's been waking every hour or two hours screaming! I've given him Tylenol but it hasn't helped. He needs his soother and a cuddle to go back to sleep. I'm exhausted!

Any tips/suggestions?? When did this pass for you??

@travelgirl1: yes! its like she HATES the crib now and only wants to sleep on me! im wondering if it is the start of separation anxiety or something? last night she was up every 45 mins and I had to nurse/rock her back to sleep!

@hilsy85: well, she screamed pretty badly going into the crib, which shocked me bc i always put her down awake! so strange....then she rolled around and bumped her poor head and wailed, so I had to go in and pick her up/comfort her and I was too nervous to try it again after that....going to wait a week and see if this passes, and if not, give it a serious go at sleep training

@MamaMoose: ahhh im sorry mama!!!! i feel your pain! im hoping this passes soon for us November mamas!

@kml636: that's so strange all our LO's who used to go down so easily are now fighting us tooth and nail, it must be the age! but 15 mins of crying isn't too bad at all! we are def going to sleep train if this keeps up, i don't think i slept at all last night

@Kemma: wow that's alot for a a baby to go through, no wonder all the sleep issues! how long was it bad before it got average? i would kill for average sleep again! haha

@Mrs. Tricycle: same! she used to wake up and just fuss, not even cry....now its like a sad sad screaming cry and if i don't get to her in 1 second watch out!

so it sounds like alot of us are going through the same thing, i realllllly hope it passes soon for us!

@travelgirl1: We dodged the four month regression but definitely hit the six month one too!

In Miss A's case it was a combination of wonder week, six teeth cutting, transitioning down to two naps and a big advance in mobility. Our night sleep is still pretty average but we now have a two nap schedule that works quite nicely!

I'm really hoping that our night sleep starts to improve soon cos I'm tiiiired!

I ALSO feel like all I do is talk, stress, and worry about LO's sleep!!! Okay maybe it's the age. I thought it was because we just got back from four days at my MIL.

She has been screaming like a wild banshee when we put her in her crib. We had already sleep trained so she was used to it and would go down with no trouble. After trying to get her to nap for over 2 hours yesterday, I resorted to letting her CIO at bedtime and she cried for about 15 mins. In the middle of the night, the same, she cried for about 10 mins. Tonight she fussed just a little. I hate it, but nothing else worked!

Uhhhhhh I'm right there with you sister!!! We have always had to rock our LO to sleep but for quite a while now she's been great during the night. But the last week or do has been MISERABLE. I swear she's up every twenty minutes from when we out her down at 7:30 until about 11:30. Them she'll sleep ok until 3 or 4 and then she wants to eat and play!! The only way to get her back to sleep is to keep her in my bed. I have no advice, just sympathy.

This sounds like what we went through, but around 10 months. For us, it was separation anxiety and it lasted around 6 weeks. It was horrible. We've always rocked to sleep, but whenever I'd go to lay her down, she's instantly wake up and scream until I picked her back up. If I tried to walk away and leave her to self soothe, she got hysterical. It was so terrible. It happened around the time she started crawling and pulling up for us. Has your LO reached any bigger milestones lately?

I feel like all I write about is sleep, but I.am.dying. over here! Is there a 6 month sleep regression? I know we are prob in the middle of wonder week 26, wondering if any of you experienced it or how long it lasted?? I have no clue if its a regression, teething, or the start of separation anxiety???

We used to be able to put her to sleep awake, and now she SCREAMS when she goes into the crib awake so I've had to rock her to sleep at night. Naps are all but 20 mins, when she normally takes a 2 long naps and a short nap in the evening. Last night, I was up probably 10 times. WTF!!

How do you handle situations like this? Do you CIO to get through them or let them pass and hope things go back to normal??
