Some more cramping last night and then a bit of clotty spotting when I got up this morning. Ugh. This is going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life!

@Goldengirl: good luck with the wait. It sounds like you aren't far off at all! I hope the next scan brings peace of mind and a healthy heartbeat. I just finished my first week wait with one more to go. I think about it all the time so I don't have much advice!! Best wishes!

Update... so the ultrasound showed the pregnancy measures at 5.5 weeks even though I was at 6W2D from my LMP. So I guess that means I ovulated a bit later than average? I'm still fuzzy on how the whole "weeks" thing works. Anyway, they told me that that's early to see anything so for now everything is good and going as expected. Will have to wait 2 weeks to do a follow-up ultrasound. The wait will be torture but I feel better knowing that at that point I should be able to get some more clarity.

@delight: Thank you, same to you! I have had so many people tell me of positive stories of spotting and negative early ultrasounds turning out okay. But it's still so hard to believe until I actually see for myself that things are progressing properly. Need to just try to exercise some patience which I'm not great at ;)

@Goldengirl: I have a history of mc and was being seen by an RE. I'm sorry you are spotting. I spotted with my healthy DD for weeks. I hope things work out for you.

@delight: thanks! It's so hard, my emotions are all over the place. Just hate being in limbo. What was your reason for the early ultrasound? Are you going for another soon? Good luck!!

@Goldengirl: I'm walking in your shoes right now so I just want to say that you are not alone. I had an empty sac last week at what I thought was 7 weeks. Six weeks is still very early, I hope you can see a heartbeat at your next scan.

@ShootingStar: thanks hopefully that is the case. I think the reason they did it so early was because of the spotting, to see if things were okay. Not sure what they were looking for though!

@Goldengirl: Most people don't know when they ovulated, so when they calculated based on LMP they make the assumption that you have an average 28 day cycle and you ovulated on day 14. It's possible you ovulate even later than you think you do, and a doctor wouldn't see much if you were only 5 weeks or so along. Most doctors do dating ultrasounds at 7 or 8 weeks.

@winniebee: yes I think they'll send me for a repeat in 1-2 weeks. I'm confused by the weeks thing because my understanding is its calculated from the date of last period, which for me was 6 weeks ago. How do they also factor ovulation into that? I do typically ovulate a few days later than average (day 16ish). I am so emotionally exhausted from the last 2 weeks and nothing has even happened yet! Haha

*big hugs* I had a lot of bleeding between 6 weeks and it's kind of fuzz now 12-16 weeks (?), I had a U/S every week till I stop bleeding. Early on though they always saw the baby and heartbeat and he measured correctly. So I have no experience with an empty sac. :(

Hoping for the best though!

Can you ask for a repeat ultrasound in a week? Do you have any idea when you ovulated (ie, could you be just 5 weeks instead of 6 weeks)?

Hi there! I am 6 weeks and 2 days since my LMP. Received a bfp a week and a half ago. Have been spotting for 2 weeks which made me nervous right off the bat. HCG blood test last week was good. Just went for dating ultrasound and although I don't have the report yet, the tech told me there's not much they can see at this point, i.e. an empty sac. She said no to worry and based on measurements I might be closer to 5 weeks. I feel like I knew that would be the result but still feeling uneasy between the spotting and now empty sac. Really hoping everything should OK. Any advice or similar experiences appreciated. Just looking for some hope :)
