@mrsquincy: Just to echo the others, my pediatrician assured me that they don't look at "rolling over" as much as they look at other milestones in terms of development. It's more about muscle tone. The fact that he's sitting up independently is pretty awesome.

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement! @mrsmicroscope I'll have to do some YouTube searches as well, thanks for the tips. Our pediatrician just said to work on his tummy time and didn't seem too concerned, especially with the sitting up going well. Just my mama anxiety kicking in!!

Same as the others. My LO is 6 months and rolls both ways like a champ but still needs a little help sitting. I heard as long as they are doing one or the other they are good.

Lazy. That's what my kid was! I had to teach her to roll over at 9 months from back to belly. The pediatrician was getting clenchy, so I looked up YouTube videos on how to teach the rolling. And it worked. Now at almost 11 months DD won't lay on her back at all, she rolls to belly and then is off in a flash crawling like crazy. (she didn't crawl until 10 months)

So at 6.5 months, you guys are fine! If you are worried, look up some videos and do the exercises. Good luck!

i agree that the independent sitting is a good sign about his muscle tone/development so you probably don't have anything to worry about.

I agree that since you're LO is sitting unassisted, it's probably fine. I think it's not about the individual skills but looking for a pattern of not progressing towards milestones. My little guy is 5 1/2 months and still can't rollover from his belly but can roll from his back and can sit independently, so I'm not worried even though typically babies hit that rolling from Belly milestone much earlier.

Since he's sitting independently then I don't think you have anything to worry about. Both my babies starting rolling on their tummies and slept that way as soon as they were able. My good friend's LO hated being on her belly and literally the first time they ever found her on her belly in the crib was when she was 13 months old at which point she was already walking. She just had zero interest in rolling on her belly since she hated being there.

My 6.5 month old has never liked tummy time and I assumed he would grow to like it as time passed. He has been able to roll from tummy to back for a few months, but still has not rolled from back to tummy. When I place him on his tummy he does not seem to be able to arch his back and really get his head up, which I am sure would make him happier. He is able to sit unassisted and reaches for things at a distance so he seems to have pretty good head and abdominal strength. Any suggestions? The mama worrier in me is really getting going about this...
