@Canoli: that's a great tip. I'm going to try that tomorrow, slowly dispensing through the hour.

Also I usually have to give him meds when he is laying down and I aim for the back of the cheek.

My son did this when we had to give him augmentin after the first round of antibiotics failed. My understanding was that it tastes horrible so we literally gave it to him over the course of an hour, little by little.

On a separate occasion when he had another ear infection he vomited everything, the antibiotics, Motrin, and tylenol. He had a fever of 104 and was just so sick. Our ped said he may have been so sick that he wasn't able to tolerate anything so I just did a little bit at a time.

Sorry you are going through this, it stinks.

Will she take a pacifier? I received as a gift a pacifier that you could put the medicine in and dispensed it as they sucked on it. My LO would never use a pacifier but it looked like it would work great if yours will use one!

@babycanuck: that was my thoughts too even though throwing up isn't a common side effect.

@T.H.O.U.: that's exactly how I do it. She is also sick aside from the ear infection and a bad cough is part of it. So she is crying so hard the entire time I'm giving the meds. I even stop halfway so she will stop crying. But once she gets coughing it's hard to stop and she eventually throws up. She throws up after the meds are in her stomach. But not even 5min after

Is she throwing up from gagging while actually administering the Meds or vomiting after they are in her stomach?

We are currently on amoxicillin as well. I have found that to get him not to gag I lay him on the changing table with his head propped up (maybe 15 degrees up).squirt into the corners of his mouth (think back molars) and then I try to distract him as much as possible. Hope that maybe helps. We do like 1/4 of a ml at a time so it takes forever but at least he doesn't gag and puke.

She could be having a reaction to the medication, not necessarily an allergic reaction, but I know I've had that where my body "reacted" poorly to meds and they had to give me something else. See what the ped says first

Could you do a touch of formula in the bottle? Even if you were using BM, if only put in like 15mls (1/2oz).

Please help. My 6mo needs antibiotics for her ear infection. She has thrown up after I gave it to her the last three times. Like projectile vomit throw up. It's from screaming crying while I give her the meds.

She's home with me most days so we nurse and my pumping output isn't that great so I'd rather not put it into a bottle and waste it. We only just started solids before she got sick so I'm not giving enough to use it to dispense the meds.

Any other tips?

We're only on day 4 so I'm going to call the ped tomorrow for ideas as well.

Thanks!
