We're going through the same thing! My son is 7.5 months old, and he used to be an awesome sleeper! He slept through the night starting at 3 months old. But now he just rolls from one side of the crib to the other and back again. And he's constantly trying to climb by pulling himself up on the rails. It's so frustrating, because I know he needs sleep, but he'll just roll around for an hour instead. I hope it's a phase that passes soon

The only thing you can do is accept it and get used to it. Every time they are working on a major milestone, their sleep is going to be disrupted. As with everything, this too shall pass eventually!

It is a tough phase, but a good one! He'll be able to find a comfortable position to sleep in soon. Know it's normal and it passes. I'd give lots of time for him to practice his skills during the day. Our pack n play became invaluable at this time so she could practice pulling up and sitting back down safely. It was like a baby WWF match of one in there!

LO's sleep started to get really bad around this time, and at 8 months was waking up every hour from bedtime until after midnight. It was exhausting. We did CIO at 8.5 months and he became a great sleeper and napper, even better than before. At almost 12 months he STTN 13 hours and usually has 1 2 hour nap during the day.

I've found when there has been an explosion in motor skills, sleep declines temporarily. In our house that means night wakings or early wakings. But I can say that things have gone back to normal within 10 or so days.
When my LO started rolling, she discovered that sleeping on her stomach was amazing. She's now a stomach sleeper. Around 7 months is when she also started sleeping through the night. Bumps in the road!

ETA: I can sort of remember through the fog that we might have done a modified CIO around that time. With the increased wakings, we'd let her fuss for 5-10 min unless it turned into full blown screaming. If she had gotten stuck on her stomach I'd flip her. For naps she had to stay in the crib for 45 min to encourage a nap.

So just when I think I have him on a schedule and he just starts sleeping from 7:30pm to 6:00am he throws me a curve ball. I'm exhausted once again. Our LO doesn't sleep with a swaddle anymore and did very well with the transition minus a few hiccups. We did one arm out a few weeks and that really helped. Then we did no swaddle during naps. He really started to get the hang of it. We started some sleep training as well. For the last few nights LO is all about rolling. He's all about trying to crawl and rolling during the day too. He woke us up 5 times plus last night waking himself rolling. He was trying to pull himself up with the side of the crib and babbling, fussing, and then crying. The same things happen during naps too (and he was just starting to take a 2 hour nap during the day!! :crying: ) Since it's the weekend I think we are going to try some more CIO. What have you all done in the past when this happens? Is it another phase to get through?
