Yep, normal. I was gung-ho about baby-led weaning but my LO was not interested at all. He ended up liking jarred baby food by spoon and pouches but hated homemade purees. He started getting more into food around 10-11 months. I'd suggest you keep trying different kinds of food in different presentations. He'll come around eventually!

Another vote for normal! LO was really interested in food from 6mos, but didn't get into really eating a lot of it until about 9 or 10 mos. Just keep offering, I will agree that timing is important. We had the opposite of @Banana330: LO ate a lot more if she had milk/formula first. When she was starving she got too overwhelmed with the mechanics of eating and would melt down. We did a lot of between bottle snacks for a while, which allowed her to practice without pressure from being hungry.

Normal! we are just over 8 months and she's FINALLY starting to eat a little bit more, but it's been a slow process compared to our oldest. I just made sure to offer it 1-2x a day, and eventually she started to open her mouth and eat more than a bite or two. She loves puffs!

My LO preferred purees for the first few months. I think he started to enjoy pieces of food at 9 months.

my DD had the same problem. It took her ages to actually eat something! She hates being spoon fed but I found good luck with pouches especially fruit ones like pear, banana etc. She loves holding food herself but barely gets any in, so I often put food pieces in her mouth.

Also I had to move when I was feeding her. In the mornings if she breastfeeds first thing she won't eat before her first nap. So I swapped it. She gets breakfast first thing, then breastfeeding before her nap to top her up. Same with dinner. I was serving it too late (6pm is too late for her) and she was too tired/fussy to eat properly. If we feed her at 5 she gobbles stuff down. I do find it takes her some time to warm up to the meal, our meals are like 45 min long!

Normal! Some kids get into solids later than others and as long as you're giving your LO plenty of opportunities to experiment with foods then I wouldn't be worried. Personally I've found that my kids do really well with a BLW style of feeding and eat better when we do family mealtimes and all eat together.

My LO will be 7mos old tomorrow. Sweetie and I started offering him solids at about 5.5mos based on his interest in trying to snatch our food.

Despite his early interest, he hasn't made much progress on actually *eating*. He loves to taste, but, he spits almost everything right back out. In the last 6 weeks has probably only swallowed a 4-5oz of food.

Normal? Weird but not cause for concern? Talk to the ped?
