We had a hard time with this too. P went through about a month of it at 8-9 m, I bathed with her a lot to avoid it, then started doing what PPs have said, telling her to sit down or bath time is over - and following through! It took 4-5 nights but now she sits down!
It is so darn terrifying when they keep doing it though :(

I'm going through the same thing with my seven-month old, so no advice, just empathy!

We used one of those bath seats that has leg holes, and she couldn't climb out of it. When she got a little older, around a year, we'd tell her that if she stood up, bath time was over. We followed through with that threat a time or two, but usually she listened and sat back down. Great toys are important too!

Moving him to just using the regular tub seemed to help. I give him lots of toys. I sit at the edge of the tub and I pull him down and say "no we don't stand in the bath". If he starts throwing a ft we get out of the tub. Usually he just starts playing with his toys again.

Yep same as above, we ditched the whale tub because it gave him too much leverage and got a rubber mat. DH gives him a bath each night and is just really consistent about making him sit, over and over. We have a deep/whirlpool tub so I think it's easier to deflect his efforts. I know he usually sits him, says 'tub is for sitting' and distracts with a toy. And cuts baths short if he gets sick of the whole rigamarole!

No advice. We are going through the same thing still at 11 months. I just stopped trying to make him sit. We have a non slip bottom and I put a spout cover on and I just let him crawl around and stand.

I don't have advice other than to get a rubber bath mat and let this phase run its course. My daughter also loved to practice standing in the tub. She still prefers standing in the tub to sitting, and there's not much we can do to get her to stop.

No advice yet, but subbing. I'm already having issues with trying to keep DD sitting in the tub. She pushes her legs straight to try and stand in there already.

Yup we went thru this...we have a bath mat but its still slippery. Lo hates the shower. He would cry and cry when I tried to sit him down, and it wasn't realistic for me to bathe with him every night. Honestly,at 11 months it isn't much better. I do let him stand now and I just always keep my hands on him. Sometimes he'll sit for a few min or hell crawl around, but mainly I just keep the bath to 5-8 min, most of whih he is standing for.

We have two non-slip mats in our bath, Miss A is a stander too!

Fortunately the novelty of standing in the bath has somewhat passed and after five or do minutes LO usually sits down to play with her ducks.

E pulled himself up for the first time in the tub!

No advice at all, since I couldn't make him stay sitting (and still can't, 6 months later). I have a mat down in the tub so he's not likely to slip, and sit very close to him so I can grab him if he starts to fall (at the beginning my hands hovered close).

He's fallen once or twice, mostly after he started walking and stepped off of the mat. Bit his lip once, nearly gave me a heart attack because he drew blood.

My LO isn't at that stage yet, but would a lot of fun bath toys distract him enough that he'd sit down and play?

So, ds has been quite the handful ever since he started crawling around 6 months. He is on the move consistently. I call him my manaic....He has been pulling himself up about a week after crawling. He wants to be standing all the time, which causes alot of falls since he climbs on everything (he's 8 months now). The biggest issue ive been having with such a mobile active baby is that he refuses to sit in the bath. Im constantly holding him up and try to sit him down but he straight legs and stiffens his legs. He can't stand alone yet so im in fear the whole time hes gonna slip and twist his ankle or arm from me having to hold him. Any solutions? He doesnt sit in the little whale tubs he leans forward and climbs out ( he even trys to climb out of the tub now) I bought one of the tub rings theu sit in, he jsut leans forward and reaches out of it and tips it. Help!
