Ugh, so sorry to hear this. It's exhausting, I know. Our LO went through the same thing. He still only has 2 short naps at 10 months (40-50 mins), but his nighttime sleep is much better; usually one short wakeup somewhere between 2:30-4:00. I nurse him back to sleep, and it's usually very quick. What worked for us was a combo of CIO (with lots of cuddles and nursing before the crib), and a better nap and sleep schedule. Waking at 7 am, first nap around 9, second around 1, bedtime around 6-6:30. Maybe your LO is too tired by the time she goes down for her naps/bed?

@Eko: Ellie is the same, super clingy and way more cuddly than usual. Also a lot more fussy. It definitely makes me feel better knowing this is common around this age. We are still co sleeping. I'm hoping after this we'll be able to transition to her crib.

@MrsBrewer: I totally thought the same thing! I thought for sure she had an ear infection or something going on! Just her new normal for now. She's never slept through the night and we've always co-slept but I'm hoping once this phase is over we'll be able to transition to her crib. We put her down in it once she first falls asleep (after a few attempts of trying to put her in crib) and she'll sleep for 2ish hrs in it, then she wakes up screaming like she's scared. So I just bring her back to bed. It's exhausting because she's been getting up every couple hrs even in our bed. I hope things get better for every one soon!

@MrsBrewer: It is probably just separation issues. I've noticed that DS is starting to get a little clingy. Not to an extreme where he cries if someone else holds him, just more snuggly and wanting to be held more. I figured him waking up at night by himself is just him freaking out.

@MrsBrewer: We have been encountering the same issue too. It's been quite annoying, but DS slept through the night last night!! I figured it was a phase and am just waiting it out. I keep trying to get DS to sleep in his crib, but if he wakes up he wakes up. I don't force it. He's been sleeping in his crib and through the night for a while, I figured he's not going to forget how to do it so easily.

Hang in there!! It'll get better

@MrsBrewer: Try keeping her occupied doing something she likes. For T this is playing in her room or being in her highchair. Skip nap two then but the babe down earlier. When we were in the middle of crappy sleep she would go down at 8ish now its as early as 6:30.

My DS had been sleeping through the night since 10 weeks and starting waking just like this at 7 months. He wouldn't sleep through the night again until 10 months. Not helpful I know but there is an end.

@youboots: My SIL suggested this too, but I'm not sure how I would be able to keep her up....she get SO tired and cranky for her morning nap around 10ish.....hmm maybe I can just fight through it and take an earlier afternoon nap instead.

@BandDmommy: not against at all, I give her one for naps and night time. She normally spits it out as soon as she falls asleep. Like her tongue just pushes it out. When she wakes up, I don't think she thinks to look for it then :-(

@MrsBrewer: You could try one nap and see if it helps. 8 mo is a little early to drop to one nap but it's been amazing for us. No more fighting 3 times a day to get her down. Shes so tired and ready that she does not even need to be rocked, hand in the moth, roll over, and sweet sleep. She sleep more hours now than she did with 2 naps.

@youboots: ahh don't get me started on naps....she's been taking 30-40 minutes naps twice a day in the crib....that's it! she doesn't even sleep when being held. This girl is boycotting all forms of sleep!

Good to know that it gets better, and this is just another "stage" we have to push through!

She was sleeping with us a lot at this point. Started in her bed then slept with me for the rest of the night and waking to eat 1-2x times. Abut 8 weeks ago I had to let her CIO for naps because it got so bad, that only took one day. A month or so ago we went to one nap and she started sleeping through the night. Last night I put her down 7:30 and she's still asleep at 8, I'll have to wake her up at 8:30, rinse repeat, shes 11 mo now. Hang in there. That time was the worst.

Ok, I used to have an amazing sleeper!! She would sleep through the night most nights from about 3-4 months on. then about a month ago (at 7 months) she started waking 1-2 times again at night. She's eating solids great! So I know it's not that she's hungry. This little one is a piggy at meal time!

All this time, she has always slept in her crib too. We transitioned her from the cradle in our room to the crib in her room at 3 months seamlessly.

But now for the last 2-3 weeks, she's been waking up 3-4 times at night, and she wakes up screaming! They sound like she's afraid. Then I will go in and nurse her or just rock her to sleep, and attempt to put her back down. Every time we put her down though, she startles and starts thrashing around and crying again. So it takes 3-4 times of rocking and gently putting her down before she actually goes back to be. Normally by the 2nd or 3rd wake up at night, I'm so exhausted, that I normally just take her into the guest bed and sleep her with her in there. She sleeps great in there then....ugh.

What the heck happened?! Is there some developmental phase she's going through? She doesn't have any teeth yet, so teething is always in the back of my mind.....

Any suggestions??

FYI - I personally don't care for cry-it-out, I let her try and fall back asleep on her own once and awhile but it normally just escalates, and gets her going even more. The more and more she's worked up the harder it is to have her go back down then too....
