@lawbee11: K does the same thing with her tongue - but I caught her when she fell asleep nursing. Her mouth was wide open so I started poking around. We were up at 11, 3, 5 and 8 last night/this morning...seriously hoping it improves soon!

@redsmarties: Ooh I'll have to look! I've been feeling around but haven't felt anything. It's so hard to look in her mouth because she sticks her tongue out when I do it!

She was "only" up 3 times last night. Pretty sad that that's an improvement!

Yeah, LO, who is going on 8 months, has started his ear pulling more often, but he does it a lot when he's sleepy, primarily when he's nursing to sleep.

@lawbee11: How are you and M doing?

We were up lots last night, but this morning I can TOTALLY see one of her top teeth. Its not poking through quite yet, but its a big white line. I'm hoping this is the solution to sleep issues and ear pulling!

@lawbee11: Zombie here, too. She nursed in bed with me from 2:30-6 last night...then we had swimming lessons at 9:30 this morning. Need more coffee, haha. Hopefully these pesky teeth pop through soon and we can go back to sleep!

@redsmarties: Sorry you're going through the same thing, but it's sorta nice to know I'm not alone. She nursed 9 times yesterday and was up 4 times overnight. I'm a zombie.

@lawbee11: K is doing this EXACT thing. Pulling at (mostly) her right ear, fussier and nursing more, and waking up a bunch. I was suspecting its teething...and sounds like pps agree!

Same as @MoonMoon: LO has started doing it recently and the ped said she's teething, but she does it a lot more when she is tired or upset. (Not really surprising since I tend to tug on/rub my ears when I am frustrated.)

My LO started doing this shortly before getting his first teeth, but for him, its also related to sleepiness, frustration, and nursing. Just a general soothing mechanism, I think! I was worried at first too.

C does this. I thought it was a sign of an ear infection, and took him to the pediatrician. No ear infection! He just either likes to play with his ears, or it's teething related.

Could be teething, could be nothing, could be an ear infection! Apparently they also don't need to have a fever to have an ear infection...

My LO has been grabbing her ear for the past few days (it's usually only her left ear). She's also been fussier than normal in the evenings...and is waking up a ton at night. Have no idea if they are related, but could it be something other than an ear infection?

She had an ear infection a couple of weeks ago and before it was diagnosed her temp got as high as 103.5. She doesn't have a fever now which makes me think it isn't an ear infection.

Has anyone else's LO pulled at the ear for a different reason? Maybe teething?
