Thanks everyone! You think that as a second time mom i'd be more laid back about things. My son didn't walk until he was 15 months so I'm already familiar with late milestones. But you jut can't help but worry.

@BoogieBea: Isn't that always the way?! I always get nervous just before the milestone happens :)

aww cute. i was going to suggest the bumbo or something similar - that's supposed to help with the sitting up, right?

And congrats on your LO sitting! Isn't it exciting? DS is just learning to pull up and I was just remarking tonight how much easier it seemed for him than just 2 days ago!

I worry about my son because he seems to be a tad slow with some of the physical milestones. But he's also huge for his age so he has a lot of weight to support, balance and move around. Then I remember that my awesome, smart and athletic sister didn't walk until 16 months and I realize DS will get there eventually.

Do your pediatricians go through a milestone list at your routine well baby appointments? Mine does and we talk about DS's progress then.

yay! charlie started crawling at 6 months before he sat up unassisted at 7 months.

i think olive will be late in hitting her physical milestones based on how she's developing thus far. but they eventually get there! :-)

@artbee: @Mrs. Jacks: Thanks for the response! Turns out that just earlier, after I posted, she started sitting. Go figure. I sat her down with her brother who was playing with some Legos. She grabbed a couple pieces and started gnawing. She sat there for a good 10-15 minutes just gnawing and watching her brother. She didn't even need to put her arms down for support.

Every baby develops differently and at their own pace. Larger babies with larger heads may have good enough trunk control to sit at a later age then smaller kids. Our daughter was tiny and began sitting unassisted at four months. On the other hand, she was scared of falling on our hardwood floors and didn't walk til 13 months. Having said that, 8 months is on the later end, and it would be good to make sure your pmd knows and can evaluate.

LO is nearly 8 months old and has no interest in sitting up. I can sit her up for 30 seconds or so and she'll eventually slump back down to her tummy. She's more interested in movement and scoots around like a seal. She also seems to be developing normally in other areas.

Is anyone else's LO a late sitter?
