So many good ideas, THANK YOU!!!

@ Thehistoryofus I use to use a diaper liner (kind of like a pad) with my son, I was thinking that may work for nighttime.

@Mrs. Bee EXACTLY! She's just my baby!! I have no idea where to even start with sleep training, I've not read any books. I'm game to do it with you though! This Mama needs some sleep...

@Andrea I was also thinking of swapping the formula for water, I just bought her some sippy cups and started giving her water and she loves it.

@Rubies & @Lozza I never thought about upping her bedtime, she usually naps around that time, I wonder how I'd go about just keeping her asleep. Hmm..

My DD was waking up 2-3 times a night to nurse at almost 8 months. We were co sleeping with her and I think she woke up so much because she could smell me. We've been sleep training her this past week and she's dropped her night feedings completely! Apparently, she was waking up due to habit and was comfort nursing. I think try the paci? Or let you LO cry it out a bit? Are you nursing or FF?

I also recommend experimenting with an earlier bedtime. LO goes down at 7:30 and sleeps till 6:30, and he actually sleeps less if he goes down much later than that.

When we were trying to drop night feedings, we skipped the diaper change, and if it had been fewer than X hours since LO last ate (we kept increasing X a bit every night), then instead of me going in and feeding, DH would go in and soothe LO so he got used to NOT eating for larger and larger intervals at night. DH would use the pacifier, would rock him, and we may have started off giving him some water at first (but that stopped pretty quickly I think). We just tried to give him fewer incentives for getting up. It seemed to help. We also tried letting him go longer before we went in and got him- we didn't let him cry for long periods of time, but sometimes if I just left him alone for three minutes, or five minutes, he'd go back to sleep on his own.

At 8 months, LO was still waking up twice at the same times you mentioned but was starting to drop the first feed. But she also had a bedtime of 6-6:30pm.

Have you considered giving your LO an earlier bedtime?

Instead of feeding, you can try soothing, giving her a paci, giving her some water in the bottle instead of milk, or sleeping training. You can probably try to cut it down to just one feeding per night at night as a start.

i do believe that it is out of habit. she is getting hungry in the middle of the night because she's used to being fed in the middle of the night. i know... because olive is 8 months and still wakes up at least twice a night!

you can either wait it out and hope they eventually grow out of it (many do, many don't). or you can sleep train. now would be a good age to do it! any later (9 months+) and they might be going through a sleep regression.

maybe we should do it together? i can't believe i'm this weak when i sleep trained charlie. she is just my baby!

We are at 10 months and she's still getting up about once a night.

Is there anyway you can at least not change the diaper in the middle of the night? That was a good first step for us so at least when she gets up we can just feed her and put her back down and the diaper change doesn't wake her up so much.

Around 8 months was when I would get up with her the first time to feed her and after that my husband got up to "sooth" her if she woke up again.

My LO only recently started to sleep through the night after he turned 1. I don't have any great advice, but do try to stay strong. Maybe try dropping it down to just one middle of the night waking instead of 2. Try to let her cry and self soothe for one of the wake ups. That was the only way I could get my LO to drop down to one middle of the night feeding.

It must be out of habit, but I'm out of energy!!!
She goes to bed at 9:30 after a bottle, then wakes at 1:30-2 for a bottle/diaper change then again at 4:30-5 then sleeps until 7:30. I am so tired!!! I'm thinking of getting sleep training books and giving that a try. What do you suggest?
