@banana.. I didnt think of it that way but you're right! We had much less flexibility with baby#1 since she mapped in her crib

My daughter is 10 weeks and she naps wherever she'll sleep! Sometimes it's in my arms, sometimes in the carrier, carseat, bed, crib, sofa. I kinda like that she's able to nap in different places. My son only napped in his crib for MONTHS and it was hard taking him on vacation because he was so used to his crib.

@erwoo - i know what you mean about needing a break!! Ive been eating linch around 2 as well these days..
@mungbean - good to hear that she will prob transition to crib with no prob.. This is what i was worried about, that i was making her dependent on the swing
@Mrs. Wagon - i know what mean about being scared! I am scared to do a lot of things when it comes to possibly disturbing sleep
@baby boy mom - i think a lot of parenting is about letting go and not fighting it.. At least if you dont want to drive yourself crazy! Thanks for the tip.. And i wish i could get her to nap in the moby more!

Phew! I feel relieved! Some people told me not to worry about it but i just couldnt shake off all the things i read in the sleep books for baby #1 about sleeping with motion. But now its a little different ... I told myself not to stress too much about sleep this time since i think it will make me into crazy mom. Thanks everyone!

We didn't have a swing, but LO took lots of naps in the moby at that age so same idea. He's never been a great napper and at some point I stopped fighting it and said he'll nap however he needs to nap and that's it.

LMW is 12 weeks and still takes about one swing nap a day. The rest of her naps are in the rock n play. I'm too scared to try crib naps yet-- her night sleep has only just gotten good in the crib.

L was an awful napper and refused to nap in her crib until she was about 5 or 6 months old. Until then, she napped in the swing, in our arms, on the couch next to me, etc. I was really worried that she would never nap in her crib, but then one day I tried it and she was fine! I wouldn't worry too much about it...

My LO is 6 months and he still swing naps. I put the swing in our office so I'm just a few steps from him and we have french doors so I can see him (and have an audio monitor in there as well). Although, I did try having him nap in his crib today and got 1.5 hours. I am slowly going to transition him to crib napping soon. He has napped on the swing for 3-4 hours from time-to-time. I think it's fine. I actually cut a small piece of foam to put under his head so it won't flatten his head for being on it for so long.

I actually swing napped my oldest until 8 months. Crazy but he moved to crib napping w/o a problem and has always been a great sleeper. I hope my second will be a great sleeper too. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Do what works for you. If I can have both of my boys nap at the same time and for at least 2 hours I will swing nap my second. By 2pm I need a break! Sometimes I eat lunch at 2pm.

honestly, i think if it works for you, then it works for you! i nannied my nephew, and he frequently napped in his swing until he outgrew it at around 6 months. he's a year old now and naps and sleeps great!

ETA: I originally put crib instead of swing, but I fixed it!

I think 8 weeks is a bit old to be only napping in a swing/arms..
During the first 4 weeks we held our LO a lot for naps, but she slept in her bed most of the time.
All babies are different though!

My 8 week old (second child) is sleeping great at night in a pack and play in our room. She wakes up once or twice to nurse then goes right back to sleep on her own.. I dont need to rock her or anything. But napping is a different story - she will only nap when I'm holding her or in the swing and it has to be on. My first baby was pretty much taking all of her naps in the crib at this age but now with the second baby, I just dont have time to get her to nap in her crib! I did try a couple times to put her in her crib but she just wakes up after 20 min and i have to pick her up again. Its so easy to just let her nap for an hour or two in the swing so I can get some work done around the house. I would have never used the swing so long with baby#1!! Anyone think its ok to have a baby nap in a swing for 2-3 hours?? I feel guilty at times for letting her nap in the moving swing for so long.. I know she is still so young but i feel like im setting myself up for disaster!
