I'm counting down my days left at work - 8 more after today! That's helping me get through it (I'm 38 weeks today). And then Hubs and I are making efforts to actually go out and do things - watch football at a sports bar, go to a movie, go out for dinner. Trying to get in as much together-time as we can

@jedeve: I did that around 37 weeks. That was the time that my doctor swore that the baby was going to come early so I started getting anxious and excited and freaking out and my mind was set on the baby coming. She was really low so the doctor would always say, "I'm not going to see you at your next apt!" and then sure enough I was there. After my experience I don't really thing there's anything you can actually do to get the baby out. They come when they want to come.

And really, I know it's annoying to hear, but you have to enjoy your freedom while you can! It will be a very long time before you will be able to go to the bathroom by yourself, eat without holding a baby in your hands, etc. Enjoy the simple things.

I started walking as much as possible at 37 weeks since I wanted mine out asap... I was hoping for a pre-New Year baby too. It started me dilating and lots of BH contractions.

Walking, red raspberry leaf tea, eggplant parmesan, I tried so many old wives tales- what worked for me was bending over to pick up a pen at 39 weeks...that broke my water!

@ladyfingers: Ha! Seriously. "Enjoy feeling fat and miserable." I mean, I'm sure I will look back on this time fondly, but I think it probably won't be the most accurate memories.

Though we have been staying in bed until 11 on Saturdays!

@artbee: At what point did you start doing this? I think I'll start Operation Eviction at 39 weeks. Partly because our insurance changes Jan 1st and we really really want baby to come on that plan instead! (We haven't met our deductible since we started a new company plan in September, then the company is switching insurances, so we don't want to meet the deductible with a few days left in the year, and then immediately have to start paying off an even *higher* one!!)

Is it bad if that's my main "motivation" right now? I mean, I know it's better for baby's health to stay in there, but it's mainly the thought that it would be much more expensive for us financially to have the baby come this year that's getting me through...

It helped me to actively work at getting the baby out. I tried all of the old wives tales. A lot of walking, sitting on an exercise ball to get LO in a good position (I think that really helped, she was really low and it only took an hour to push her out), eating all sorts of weird food, etc.

None of it worked, LO came on her due date. But at the time, I still felt like I was doing something :)

Oh man, I'm at 8.5 months and I need this, too. Subscribing and hoping not to hear "enjoy this time" or "sleep while you can" lol.

If you are still working, can you countdown until you are off of work? Also, are there any big projects or things that you can do between now and then? One thing we did was make a list of things that are easier to do before LO arrived and tried to do some of those things to help pass time.

I need some motivation to get through the 9th month. I'm 37w5d now. What have you got for me?! Any encouraging words?

Just please not "you'll have your LO soon" or "baby will come when it's ready."
