I'm adding my sorry tale of woe to the mix. The 9 month sleep regression plus teething plus DD being ill (for the last three months) is kicking my butt.

I'm bumping this as I did a search to see if there was anything on the 9 month sleep regression. DD is 9 months ( and 2 days haha) and has been sleeping like crap for the past 29 days. Occasionally she will STTN but not often. I don't think she had 1 MOTN wake up from month 1-8.
Last night she was up every 2 hours! She's been waking up usually around 2 and I'll feed her, then she'll wake up at 5. Sometimes she wants to stay up for the day then, or she'll just scream and scream and scream until we just let her stay in our bed. We've never let her co-sleep so I don't know why she suddenly wants to sleep with us. If we let her stay in our bed it's 50/50 she'll either sleep really well, or she will lay there kicking and pulling my hair trying to play. Like another PP said, not funny at that time in the morning.
It's already been a month, this has to end soon right? Right??

My honest thought immediately from reading this title: "…was HELL!" Seriously, Month 9 was the hardest! I think it was like 2 weeks really hard, tons of wake ups and screaming. A few days of break, and then hell again. By 10.5 months I think I started seeing the light again.

I don't know why it's so good to hear that other people are suffering this same hell. But it is. :)

CJ is 9 1/2 months now, and has been waking up at night at least once if not two or three times for six weeks now (before that she slept through the night consistently for ages). I'm still nursing to sleep, so all the wakeups are on me, unless she gets herself back to sleep without me (it happens occasionally). And now in the last week she's added more fun - she doesn't actually fall asleep at bedtime, or she won't go back to sleep after the first wakeup of the night. It is really starting to make me crazy. Babies, man.

Oh my gosh - I haven't visited Hellobee since before my girls were born. I am in the middle of the 9 month sleep regression right now with my twins, and I think I am going to lose my mind...

So glad to see this is normal and that I am not alone. All I ask for is a two hour stretch of sleep! They slept better than this as newborns!

@Elderberrygin: @bisous: you guys give me hope! We're close to two weeks in I think. She's been figuring out crawling along with a lot of other verbal stuff in that time period. The funny thing is that in this time she's actually figured out how to put herself to sleep at the start of the night without nursing, but her wake ups are just off the charts right now.

Lasted a good 2-3 weeks for us! Disappeared even more quickly than it came though! Hope that happens for you, too.

She went from several wakeups--including waking up and staying up at 5 am--to going back down to sleep so easily at 7:30 and waking for her MOTN feeding at 5 or 5:30 and them going back down til 6:40.

@Revel: Three weeks, I think? It was in the midst of winter illnesses from daycare so its all a bit of a blur.

Honestly, with regards to the co-bedding, just do whatever keeps you sane and gives you all some sleep. We didn't co-bed because LO has never liked sleeping with us, but we nursed/bounced/rocked to sleep. A number of nights DH lay on the floor of the nursery while LO practiced crawling at 2am because she'd just stand in her crib and scream otherwise. And it was fine. We got out the other side and she went back to putting herself to sleep and sleeping through without huge drama because she had those skills already.

Sleep has been terrible for us, too. LO is 9 months. He wakes up for a bottle in the MOTN, and refuses to go back to sleep. He screams and screams until we bring him into bed with us, and then he still won't go back to sleep! He just rolls back and forth and pulls my hair and kicks us, haha. Not so funny at 4 AM though!!

@Rockies11: yeah, we are having so many wakeups.... lucky to get a two hour stretch here and there. The only reason we get any sleep is when I give up on the crib and we co bed, but that's a whole 'another problem.

@Elderberrygin: do you remember how long it lasted for you?

9 months was our worst sleep regression. (We got them all - 4, 6, 9 and 12 month. I'm sure the 18 month will be right on schedule too.)

The good news is it got much, much better after we got through it - sleep, behavior, everything. Way better than it had been before the sleep regression.

And I'm also pretty devastated to learn that there is a 9 month regression. I feel like sleep is just starting to get back to normal after the 4 month regression (and she's 7.5 months).

Ahhhhhh! It's so horrible! She has been waking up 10 times a night for the past week, eating constantly, screaming at the top of her lungs whenever I leave her alone for a second! And she wakes up at 4:30 am -5:00 am, stays awake for a couple of hours, then has an hour more sleep then is up for a day of screams! How long does this last? Is there anything I can do?
