My DS was 10.5 months. He never army crawled or anything. He walked sort of late (15 months) but you'd never know now.

Thanks everyone! Quinn started crawling a week before her 10-month b-day. She's not pulling up to stand, too. Seems like she prefers standing to anything else. :silly:

@CatchAFallingStar: I said other because my DS didn't crawl until 12 months. He was walking at 15 months and now is an energetic and clever 30m old tot who loves to jump and run. It took DD who started crawling at ~9 months nearly 4 months to figure out how to crawl once she was sitting on all fours. So just give her time!

@CatchAFallingStar: I have a Quinn! And she also crawled and walked late (she crawled somewhere between 9 and 10 months). She's now a walking, potty trained kindergartener :) I wouldn't worry

My daughter started crawling in her crib around 9.5 months, but wouldn't actually crawl on the floor or when we were there (we saw her on the monitor consistently though) until 10.5 months. She also didn't walk until two weeks ago at 15 months but two days in she was running. At least for her it's seemed to be that she's very very cautious and wants o be positive she knows what's she's doing before she tries.

DS army crawled starting at 7 months but didn't start crawling for real, up on all fours, until 9 months. He never got up on all fours and rocked. He started walking right after his first birthday.

I recently learned that with the "back to back" sleep campaign, more and more babies are skipping the traditional crawling phase altogether (they may scoot around on their bottoms or something like that instead).

DD never really did more than lean forward onto her arms and maybe rock a little bit. As an OT it drove me crazy that she wasn't getting much weight bearing. She started cruising around furniture at 7.5 mos(it was very odd seeing such a young baby standing and walking) and took her first independent steps 1 week before she turned 10 mos. I don't think she actually crawled until she was almost 20 mos old and it was a very awkward looking and inefficient movement even then.

DS didn't crawl until 10 days after his 1st birthday. Then he walked a few days before 16 months. Some kids just take their time. I stressed and stressed so much, but the doctor kept telling me there was nothing physically wrong with him, he just wasn't interested. We had an EI evaluation and qualified for physical therapy and in one visit the physical therapist said the same thing. There was nothing she could do when he just didn't care about moving yet. And it was true - he put a lot more into his fine motor skills at that age and was feeding himself with a spoon by about 10 months. Try not to worry too much. I spent so much of DS' first year worrying about milestones and now at 3, you would have no idea who in his preschool class rolled or crawled or walked when.

DS didn't crawl till he was almost 11 months old, but then he started walking the following month! I hear crawling is no longer a milestone for some people since some kids completely skip it and go straight to walking!

My LO started crawling at 10.5 months. I was concerned starting at around 7 months because she never rolled and would not weight bear on one leg, so we were referred to EI, evaluated and accepted (mostly because of the weight bearing issue), and started PT once a week at around 8 months. Honestly now in hindsight (DD is 2.5), I think she was just a little slow to develop gross motor skills (started walking by 16 months), and was so easy-going that she didn't really push to get moving until she was really ready. I think you are definitely still in the range of totally normal, especially if her pedi isn't concerned. I think encouraging more floor time (like you are doing) is great. She is probably over doing tummy time at this point since she can sit up. We would put toys further and further away from her (for short periods during the day) to encourage her to try to get them. And actually she was really motivated by food - always would grab for puffs!

DS didn't start crawling until a week before his 1st birthday. He's been slow to reach all developmental stages, but he was premature. Within a week after crawling, he started standing. He's now 14 months and took a couple steps the other day! He won't take more than 4 steps at a time, but we're getting there! Once they start crawling, everything seems to come really quick!

DD2 didn't start crawling till closer to 10m. I was worried too but it's definitely still in normal range. And I've heard that crawling isn't considered an actual milestone any more. Some kids completely bypass crawling and go straight to walking!

My DD started crawling at 9.5 months. It happened over night. I really didn't think she would ever crawl and would go straight to walking but one day she just took off.

My pediatrician told me not to worry and that some babies just never crawl. However, from the start she cautioned me not to use a bouncer/exersaucer/walker because it's detrimental to babies' muscle development.

My DD (Quinn) is 9.5 months now. She isn't crawling. We realized at about 8 months that we had been letting her play in her exersaucer and bouncer too much instead of encouraging floor time. I think this might be the culprit, but I still worry about her development. We got rid of those toys and she now plays exclusively on the floor. She HATES tummy time, though.
She gets into a position that looks like she's about to crawl, but hasn't yet. She loves to stand against furniture to play, but can't pull herself up to standing yet. She's been sitting unsupported since 6.5 months. Her pediatrician said she was fine at her 9-month check-up, but I still worry! Anyone else have late movers?? I posted something similar when she was almost 8 months, but as time goes on, I worry more and more.
