I totally get how disappointing it is for BOTH of you. It sounds like you've done a lot of prep work for this party and you were both looking forward to it, so I totally understand that it's disappointing! If you find another solution that works, definitely do that!!! I'm just sharing what I would do, which might be completely different than what you decide to do, and neither is better or more right, in my opinion. Plus, you know your daughter best. My son probably takes after his dad and doesn't get super emotionally invested in stuff like this. Yes he'd be excited and looking forward to it, but I know having it not happen and having to push it back wouldn't devastate him. And that's just his personality. I usually find that when my DD has requests they're not as specific as I think. My LO has a baby sister and has lessons in patience and disappointment, several times a day. She needs me? Well, the baby also needs me, so she has to wait. She wants a snack? Well, I'm changing a diaper. She wants to play? Well, I'm making dinner.</p> <p>So yeah, I'm not going to pick a special event she's been counting down to on her calendar to teach her a lesson about patience and disappointment.
