I've posted about our LO's gas issues. Honestly, time has been the only thing that's worked. He's 10 weeks and only really has the bad gas at night now. It got better around 8.5 weeks. We tried everything (including trips to the GI) and the only thing that kind of worked was the windi when he was REALLY worked up.

@Mrs. Deer: I think probiotics helped as much as anything and lots of bycicling, plus taking both legs together and pushing them in a wide circle bending the knees up against the tummy when you go by there. We tried to do the leg movements multiple times, throughout the day whether he seemed to be gassy at that point or not just to try to keep the build up from getting so bad. Night time was the worst since he wasn't moving at all and couldn't get any gas out.

He outgrew it somewhere in the 3-month range, though I can't remember exactly when it was.

Everything every one posted I tried and didn't do much to help my girls. The windi + gripe drops helped quite a few times with A to calm her enough to sleep.

Noelle had gas issues!

1. What were your go-to's that helped your babies with gas issues? Gripe water helped, cycling her legs, burping her frequently, and ALWAYS holding her upright for at least 20 minutes before putting her down to sleep anywhere to help her digest. I always let her sleep at an incline too.

2. At what age did you notice things got better? Around 12 weeks we saw a big improvement.

Okay, I will say after reading posts that frequent burping & very slow bottle feedings when giving bottles did help. When I say nothing helped I mean gripe water, gas drops, Happy Tummi wrap thing... We also switched to a gentler formula (we combo fed) and it seemed to agree with her a bit more.

Gas sucks for our little babies. Hope you find some relief for your baby.

1. What were your go-to's that helped your babies with gas issues?

Our first was gassy and spit up a lot. The drops helped if I used them a cpl times a day. Probiotics didn't. Burping techniques that helped were putting him high up on my shoulder, with both arms over top and creating a straight line for the body, then rubbing up the left side of his back with the heel of my palm. Switching burping positions helped a lot too. Our second is gassy too, but doesn't spit up much. I tried the probiotics again and I found they made her worse. I think I should've probably introduced them slower and spaced out the days instead of jumping right into the full dosage. Especially considering how my guts react to probiotics. I burp her a lot. Whenever I pick her up I do a little rub of her back and can get out a burp. I also do a gas massage -

Gas Massage

First, rub from ribcage to diaper one hand after the other for a count of 15. Then, take baby's legs and bend them to his/her belly and hold for a count of 15. Next, rub his/her belly in a clockwise motion for 15 seconds. Last, bend baby's legs to his/her belly for 15 seconds. Repeat this 3 times a day.

2. At what age did you notice things got better?
#1 - when he started to go longer between nursing sessions, probably around 3.5 - 4 months. Still spit up until 6 months but he wasn't in pain.
#2 - around 10 weeks. She is 14 weeks now and it isn't much of an issue anymore. She has always been a better nurser and has spaced sessions out faster then my first. I believe now that I was feeding my first when he was gassy and not hungry and it became a vicious cycle of spitting up and gas.

Ugh, gas is horrible :(

1. What were your go-to's that helped your babies with gas issues?

I don't know that anything worked. We tried it all & I got it in my head that gas drops were helping but I am not sure that they did :bummed:

2. At what age did you notice things got better?

4 months was when the "colickiness" went away but tummy issues (gas and spit up) were gone by 6-7 months. I think it was sitting up & solids.

@Mrs. Deer: I don't know what helped or not since I just threw everything at the problem, but we did do gas drops in between sides when she was nursing. Seemed like it maybe helped. But I remember it got a lot better at 3.5 months, like a switch flipped. It's so so hard seeing them so upset and not knowing how to help!

@Mrs. Deer: I used to have a hard time burping also but I just try different positions. If you search on yout*be for burping technics, there are 2 that I like. One is where you sway baby left to right then pat on the back. The other is where you sway her forward and back while she is sitting on your lap and then pat her back.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yeah, she likes the warm baths too! She loves being in the ergo with my husband but with me she's super restless and just wants to nurse :/ I'm curious about the windi too, heard good things about it.

@Mrs. Deer: both my kids had awful gas. Charlotte was worse and I had to quickly learn which foods to eliminate from my diet! Cauliflower and black beans were the culprit, and my most often eaten foods.

She spends most of her day in an upright position. It's 90% of the reason why we got the ergo360, because she prefers to be FF and upright at all times.

Warm baths and showers calm her enough that she passes gas on her own. Sometimes I think she's so worked up that she gets too tense to fart. The warm water relaxes her.

She lets me massage her belly very gently while I sing you are my sunshine twice, then bicycle her legs. That usually gets a few farts out, too.

We haven't tried it yet but I've seen a handful of recs for the Windi here on the boards!

Thanks ladies!

@wonderstruck: that's a good idea about the bottle. Haven't given her one too often but I want to in the future.

@Pumpkin Pie: I have the hardest time getting a burp out of her! Sometimes I try for like 5-10 minutes and get nothing.

We tried probiotics and simethicone. I don't think the simethicone really did anything, but the probiotics seemed to help. LO is 2 months old now, and I often have forgotten to give her the probiotics.

What I think helps the most is burping her often during a feeding. She will often burp 3times. Then, before putting LO down to sleep see if there is another burp in there to let out. I've observed that my LO will burp way after the the feeding has been over. Make sure you keep your LO upright for about 15 mins. after feeding.

1. If she ever does take a bottle, mix some gripe water into it! Also, sitting LO up after eating, taking breaks if it seems like they are eating too quickly, and laying him stomach-down on my legs while I patted his back helped sometimes.

2. Around 12 weeks. That is how long it typically takes for their digestive system to get itself all sorted out.

Even with MSPI our first daughter didn't have any issues with gas, so this is all new to me! Poor baby girl often wakes up shrieking in her bouncer and we have to lay her flat and bicycle her little legs to help her out. We just started simethicone drops and some probiotics (also got gripe water but she's not a fan of swallowing it so far).

My questions for you experienced moms:

1. What were your go-to's that helped your babies with gas issues?

2. At what age did you notice things got better?

I just so want to help her, I hate seeing her so upset and losing sleep over it since she's waking up so frequently.

Thanks ladies! :)
