I send one of my favorite gifts to new parents: a dozen cupcakes. I've sent Sprinkles cupcakes a couple times now to new parents.

I'm another for food GC, even if it's the grocery store they use, it comes in handy. Another thing, find a local cleaning service and do a house cleaning, any new parents would appreciate that!

I agree. I second food. We had some out of town friends send us a gift card to a local place that we'd taken LO to in the first couple weeks so they knew it was baby friendly, and they sent us a generous gift card that has saved us guilt on the days we haven't had the energy to cook/shop and we think of them every time we use it!

ETA: You could always pick out a cute board book and write a note inside to include with a gift card so there is something tangible they have as a keepsake. I love all the books we got!

I know you said you wouldn't go for them, but gift certificates for take-out food might be much appreciated :)

What's a nice gift to gift to new parents that they may not think to buy? I have a childhood friend who just had their first child. I want to get them something but can't seem to think of anything good. We don't live in the same state so it would have to be something shipped. They gave us a very thoughtful and generous gift when we got married. We couldn't attend their wedding because we just had our second child. And i completely forgot to send them something at the time.
so, i want to gift them something nice now. they also just moved to a new apartment recently so something for their home might be an option too. My husband keeps saying to just gift them a gift certificate but that is always my last option.
what are your go to gift ideas?
