They're 2 separate events, in my mind.. And we almost always do a $100 gift for a shower and $100+ for a wedding, so I think my husband just thinks that's too much for this particular event. I don't feel right if a couple is spending $50/head on food alone for a fancy wedding coming in with a tiny gift, but for a BBQ, I think that's thoughtful and sweet, right?</p> <p>We had a very small wedding and a casual party after for family in my home state, and most people got us small gifts like that. I think it's a bit over the top to have 3+ receptions after a destination wedding... They had a destination wedding, and have had 2 other "receptions" with different groups of people since then. We attended one of their like 6 showers in Decmeber and got them a very nice gift then. I didn't attend one of the other showers that I was invited to. </p> <p>The question is whether or not to bring a gift for the reception? I say yes because it's a reception, but my husband says absolutely not, it's ridiculous 3 months later they're still doing wedding crap and we already got them a gift. </p> <p>What would you do? The reception isn't fancy; just a BBQ at their house with friends. It's casual enough that they're asking us to bring the coolers of ice, just for reference. </p>
