But, I have to admit OP I was interested too if your patient / friend okayed you sharing her story when you wrote the part about the "in confidence". For me it had nothing to do with Hipaa or patient privacy b/c clearly this woman has become your friend. Rather to me, in confidence means what I share goes no further. Perhaps that piece made her story more compelling.
