Sorry you're feeling this way, I think I understand. I enjoyed seeing everyone at my shower but I felt so fat and not like myself that it really put a damper on my mood. Not being able to fit my arms through the outfit that I had planned to wear didn't help. I hope you enjoy your shower as much as you can.

@septemberlove: I woke up on the wrong side of the bed the day of my shower.
I went with my hair wet & curly because I couldn't even bother myself to blow dry it.
I just grinned and got through it and when they left I crawled my behind into bed and stayed there.
DH & SIL opened my gifts and threw away wrapping paper and stuff.
The next day I went through the stuff and my hostesses actually wrote my thank you cards for me! he bless their hearts!

It feel weird to have a party thrown in your honor when you feel like crap.

@Arden: Same here, for one of my showers.

I dreaded it (some I hadn't seen since before I was pregnant!) but it turned out fine. Beforehand I had to keep telling myself "at least there'll be presents!"

Its going to be mostly family that I haven't seen since I was ~17 weeks. They grabbed my belly then and I think they will now that I'm 30 weeks :(

They've also been ranting and pumping my mom for info about whether I'll be breastfeeding, getting an epidural, etc. so I doubt they'll give it a rest when they've got a prime (in their minds) opportunity to jump all over me about the pros/cons of epidurals.

:( I wish I could just nap instead.

I felt the exact same way before my shower (right up until we got there), but it ended up being okay. I asked a friend to run interference and pull me away if I looked desperate to get out of a conversation, but she didn't have to. People were mostly fine, and said less stupid things than they did at church, etc.

I was exhausted afterwards, but I actually enjoyed myself for most of the shower.

Awe if it makes you feel better no one really made those kinds of comments to me at my showers. Everyone told me they thought I "looked great!" And that's about it. The only overwhelming part and when I had to plaster a smile was when I was opening gifts. But just try to think of all the great gifts you will get from friends and family and you will get through it in one piece!

Maybe you can speak to your shower hosts and let them know how you feel? They can spread the word or save you from uber annoying guests.

Oh man, nobody asked me these questions at the shower :( only my MIL asked if she could rub my belly and I said that I would prefer not, because I didn't want everyone to think it was ok :-/

Maybe people will just be nice and tell you you look amazing and ooh and aah over the gifts!

Ugh I'm just at my wits end right now. I'm so exhausted, sore, stressed, and sick of pregnancy commentary from everyone. I feel like the pregnancy Scrooge and the Grinch who stole the baby shower or something.

My shower is this weekend and I'm dreading it. I don't want to be around anyone but my husband and if one more person comments on or touches my belly, I'm going to scream. And if I hear one more "are you breastfeeding/sending LO to daycare/getting an epidural/having twins" question, I'm going to start swinging!!

Ugh how am I supposed to plaster on a happy face when a shower is the last thing I want do?

Pity party for one.
