I have an anterior placenta and I don't know that made the baby to be more likely sunny side up. I have to ask about this and remember to do pelvic tilts. I hate that it's harder to feel her movements with the anterior placenta.

wow, why didn't I know this about a year ago??? hahaha

@shopaholic: me too, girl.. not pleasant :/ I will say it did heal beautifully and you can't even see any scars outside - which is a miracle! it looked like franken-V when I first came home - but I do feel the scar tissue internally still.

@winniebee: sunny side up means baby is "looking out" toward your belly instead of back toward your spine (like the normally are) This means their spine is along your spine & their forehead along your pubic bone..... Makes for a not very nice labor. Lol

thank you! I didn't know that sunny-side up babies tend to be more common with anterior placentas, so I will definitely be doing some of these. definitely do not want back labour.

This reminds me of a website I came across when I was prepping for baby 2.0's birth... It's dedicated to optimal fetal positioning during labor -- spinningbabies.com. You ladies should check it out if you haven't already!

I don't have an AP but I had my daughter sunny side up and that = me having back labor so I will definitely do this to try and save myself from that.

So I am one of the lovely anterior placenta mommas! No worries though, I'm still good for my homebirth b/c my placenta does not look like it's formed right over my previous scar/imbedded (nerve racking to wait & watch but thankful all is well).

Well, meeting with my midwife today and talking about preparing for birthing (now entering week 28) she told me a GREAT tip to try an avoid a "sunny-side up" baby.

She said that sunny-side up babies tend to be more common with anterior placentas b/c baby doesn't like to have their back along the placenta so they turn opposite of what they "should" (nice to know).

Well she told me to start doing pelvic tilts while on all 4's (good ol cat/cow) and that as I get closer to having baby & ESPECIALLY in EARLY labor, that will really help baby turn and save me from wonderful back labor.

So.. I thought I'd share that b/c I know that there are a few other momma's out there that have anterior placentas =)

Good day ladies
