I have both and prefer the muslin swaddles! I found the bamboo soft but really slippery and snagged easily. I also found they sort of lost their square shape!

I'm all about the swaddle blankets. We don't actually swaddle with them, just use them as blankets. Bamboo is nice, but it snags SOO easily. You can't have any velcro bibs if you have bamboo because they will mess the blankets up. I like muslin better, but my suggestion is to buy the boutique muslin blankets instead of the ones in the packs because they are much softer. I also feel like the muslin blankets are warmer than the bamboo.

Muslin is much better for swaddling but we ended up using swaddlers like Swaddle Me & Halo, so the bamboo A&A blankets have gotten a lot more use. They are so light & breathable I was comfortable using them as a blanket for LO early on and she uses one kind of like a sheet with a thicker blanket now. I have used them as nursing covers or just to wrap up LO (not actually swaddle) for walks and things.

@LindsayInNY: @Happygal: We have one SwaddleDesigns flannel blanket, and it's awesome! It's huge and very soft. I use it more than any other blanket - including A&As.

@LindsayInNY: They seem to be pretty similar to A & A! I'll take a close look after Christmas and can compare sizes. No baby yet, so I can't tell you how they hold up with staying put in a swaddle, multiple washings, etc. The flannel one is nice and soft. Annnnddd......at around $5 right now, I say it's worth trying out!

I only bought the bamboo ones because the muslin ones felt so rough. LO would not tolerate being swaddled from day 1, so we never swaddled. We still have the same set I bought before LO was born - she's 2.5 and still uses those 3 blankets all the time. She naps with 1 every day, and I use them tons in the summer and spring when I wear LO to block the sun without adding warmth. We've never had any snagging issues, even with almost daily use at times.

I have some of each. The bamboo is super soft and luxurious but snags easily and doesn't swaddle well. Really nice as light blankets though. For a good swaddle, I'd still with the muslin, plus you get more choices of patterns. :)

Just a tip, if you want to just test one, you can get individual ones on ebay. I did that instead of buying in packs. They were all brand new.

The bamboo are nice and silky but aren't as absorbent as the muslin and not as good for swaddling. I prefer the bamboo for sheets but the cotton for daily baby use.

ETA: the snagging is a problem for the bamboo. Especially if they get near Velcro.

@Mrs. Lion: no experience using either with a baby just yet, but I've received both! The bamboo is so soft and I imagine using it for lots of other things past swaddling.

I've also received some from SwaddleDesigns. One is flannel, which might be perfect for my winter baby. They are having lots of sales right now.

DS was never a baby that liked to be swaddled so idk on that. We like the bamboo a little better just because they are softer.

Bamboo is definitely softer! We didn't purchase these until later though, so I have no experience with trying to swaddle with the bamboo. I agree with Blackbird that the bamboo seems slicker than muslin.

We have both types and E sleeps with the bamboo one but the bamboo one is more slick than the regular muslin so it doesn't hold a super tight swaddle. The regular muslin one holds better, but still not awesome. Frankly, i was unimpressed with either once she was rolling around a bit! I think as a cover, blanket, etc etc, I like the bamboo because it's softer.

Does anyone have experience with both of these blankets? I want to buy a new pack for baby girl. We only had the muslin with lo1, and I was wanting to splurge on the bamboo this time, but I am not sure 1) that they are really better or 2) if it is really worth the extra cost for one less blanket. We will use them for swaddling in the beginning, and as a nursing cover and car seat/stroller cover and blanket.

Any advice?
