Now, at 22 months, I've just reintroduced them as a light blanket in his crib and he seems to like it a lot. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe it's the whole shared laundry machines thing. I looooooove the one milkbarn brand one we were gifted. It's a little silly but we still use them a ton at ages 2 and 3. The target ones won't ever be as soft as their real a & a's..I'm thinking maybe they don't have as much cotton in them. I switched to cheater/lazy swaddles, like the HALO sleepsack, and found I like the bigger flannel blankets from Swaddle Designs more for wrapping my winter baby up. Last time I used one was on a plane for a nursing cover up. DS used one as a blanket in the summer. He has two at daycare and two at home. They are the cheaper target ones, and after 4 years of washing, they are super soft. I don't know how the more expensive ones feel, but I never thought the target ones were so rough they were junk. She has 1 with her at nap time / quiet time, and we travel with one because they are so light but it's nice to have a little something for airplanes, etc. The Target ones are definitely rougher. We have 1 set of regular, 2 from Target. The Target are smaller and a little rougher. Most of ours have ripped both Target and not...but my 3 yo sleeps with at least 2 per night! He has one that he keeps at daycare (and will give it a hug and a kiss when we leave), and two that he carries around and sleeps with at home. Plus a bunch of spares! "Nana" was one of the first words my one year old learned and he's OBSESSED with these blankets. He has six of his own and is constantly stealing Xander's too.
