@sweetchic: I haven't taken clomid before, but I'm just a couple months behind you! Went off bc almost a year ago (was on it to regulate periods) & was told they would put me on clomid when we were ready to ttc as I'm not getting my periods well on my own (50+ days). So no advice, just wanted to say good luck, and I'm right behind ya! Look forward to hearing how it goes and hopefully you'll have a BFP soon:)

I had hot flashes on Clomid, but that's it.

Are they going to have you take Provera to start a period first? You have to take Clomid on specific days of your cycle.

I had 3 follicles each month on Clomid and probably ovulated 2 of them (the third was usually pretty small).

I was on 50 mg.

I'm currently pregnant from an IUI cycle with Clomid. I was on 100mcg along with a shot of Gonal-F and a trigger shot of Ovidrel to induce Ovulation. I had tried 50mcg of Clomid unmonitored and using OPK's and nothing. Clomid can make you feel rather grouchy. I also had lots of ovulation pains both times.

I think I would want to be monitored while on Clomid, I felt the piece of mind was worth it, but I have good IF insurance coverage and I'm old at 38.

I haven't had my first ultrasound yet, so idea if there's multiples in there. My RE reminded me of the risk before the IUI as we knew I had two follicles on the right side and I think two on the left side, which is my likely blocked tube side.

Sorry for the book.

@Mrs. Bee: Oh ok, that's somewhat reassuring (re: multiples), haha! Thanks for the iui explanation... I guess since we technically haven't started trying at all, we'll see how it goes for a few months on Clomid.

@sweetchic: they did an ultrasound to see how many i had.

iui stands for intrauterine insemination. basically they stick the sperm inside you. it's painless and easy (except for the hubby who has to do his business into a cup at the re's office). it increases your chances of getting pregnant by inserting the strongest sperm (it goes inside a centrifuge first).

the chances of twins are increased and everyone is afraid of it, but i only know of one person who actually had twins so i wouldn't worry. :)

@Mrs. Bee: Oooh, I didn't remember that you also were on Clomid. Wait, so how do you know how many viable eggs you have during a cycle??

OMG, the thought of twins scares the crap out of me!!!

And what does IUI stand for again...?

@sweetchic: i've heard that clomid really affects some women, but i honestly had no side effects that i can recall. i only had one viable egg on both cycles (a lot of women have more than one), and got pregnant on the second cycle. i did miscarry though at 8 weeks 6 days though (my second miscarriage... first time getting pregnant happened naturally and i miscarried), but we had an autopsy done and it was due to a chromosomal abnormality (what causes most miscarriages), so there was nothing we could have done.

anyway... i have a friend that conceived twins on clomid after trying for a long time, and i know that many women have gotten pregnant successfully on clomid. i wish you lots and lots of luck!

oh and we did an iui the time i got pregnant which increases your chances. i think it was a couple hundred dollars more to do iui, and i can't remember if it was covered by insurance....

Yes, we had been trying for about 14 months. We did a round of 50 mg of Clomid around 6 or 7 months in but my cycles were so out of whack that I decided to try accupuncture and weight loss before doing clomid again. I lost some weight and saw an accupuncturist for about 4 months and then did a round of 100 mg of clomid at 15 months of trying and that did the trick :o)
I didn't really have any side effects either time I took it, I think b/c I took it at night.

I had heard about lots of side effects from Clomid, so I took it at night before bed. One round and we got pregnant, so that seemed to work for us! :o) GOOD LUCK!!!

Soooooo... I called my doctor today and let them know that we are about ready to start TTC and that I want to go on Clomid! I went off the pill about 14 months ago (but was not TTC) and I've only had my period like 4 or 5 times since then. My period has NEVER been regular, which is why I went on the pill starting when I was in high school.

Anyways, I haven't had a visit from AF since March, so they're going to put me on some progesterone (I think?) to jump start my period, and then start me on Clomid. Eeeeks!

Does anyone have any tips about Clomid or general words of wisdom?!!
