@yoursilverlining: I was surprised they didn't say anything the day she had two accidents. My husband and I got it as well. But it's very sporadic on when it hits and no other symptoms exist. I don't know if we just continue passing it back and forth or what.

Aside from that, she just isn't great at always paying attention to her body. shes been slowly getting better but I know won't be perfect in two weeks.

Is the school talking about pee (or regular poop) accidents, or are they saying too many in regards to the loose stool? Because our preschool had a real firm no loose poo rule to curb illness spread. I would have gotten a phone call after the first loose stool and told that was too many.

If they are talking about pee/normal poop accidents then there isn't a too many number that I'm aware of for our preschool. LO had multiple (like 5!) accidents the first day in underwear and then almost daily accidents for a week and then about once a week for a couple weeks after that. They continually reassured us that her development was completely normal, the teachers are used to this and that it was no big deal.

@T.H.O.U.: yes, they request that they are potty trained but based on conversations I had with them they acted like it wasn't a big deal. She is the youngest in the class but we're willing to take her since we wanted to keep our girls at the same school. The school is in our neighborhood and we were hoping they could stay there while I am on maternity leave January - May.

She primarily has poop accidents so no clean up issues other than having to change her. Like I said, it's been maybe once a week. She has been slow to train so I know two weeks won't make a difference.

I'm curious as to what will happen if they deem "too many accidents." Does your child have to leave school? Seems extreme. My DD is at a Montessori preschool, and while students are expected to be trained before starting, it seems like there is a pretty wide idea about what "trained" means. Tons of kids still have accidents, and even DD (who is almost 4 and has been trained for over a year now) occasionally has one and it's fine.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: we moved both girls at the same time. My oldest has honestly had a few accidents since she started which is unusual for her but I assumed it was due to the transition.

Our youngest has been potty training for 5 months now. I discussed where she was with her teachers prior to starting and they made it seem like it wasn't an issue. I've heard nothing since then. I guess that's why I'm surprised.

Was there an expectation that she be potty trained before starting?

Also, what type of undies is she in? Do you have the option to maybe go with a trainer type underwear that would absorb most of the accident if there was one? They would have to change her clothes obviously but at least it wouldn't soak the floor/rug/etc.

The Montessori schools I looked into only accepted children that were potty trained. Did yours accept your older daughter when she was still learning?

Curious as to what is a normal amount of accidents at preschool?

We moved my 2 1/2 year old DD to a Montessori preschool (along with our 4 year old DD) thus school year. I was just notified by the principal that my daughter, along with a handful of other students have been having too many accidents during the day. They are on a 2 week trial in hopes that they improve otherwise we will have to re-evaluate. I'm a little surprised given she hasn't been having accidents daily. It's been maybe once a week. The last week or so has been a little off due to a stomach bug causing very loose stool. But even then, it was only one day last week & then again yesterday. Potty training has been a work in progress for her. She will not be 100% accident free in two weeks.
