My LO often has what I would describe as an acetone smell to her breath. Honestly, I figured it was just bad breath (now that she has teeth, they can get bad breath). I will ask our doc at her appointment on Friday, and see if I can give any insight. If you figure it out before then, be sure to update.

Update: the breath came back so we went to instacare over the weekend. She was hard to wake up so I was worried of course. We might have seen the world's worst instacare doc. So now we still don't know what's wrong. So frustrated :/

@Mrs. Chipmunk: no haha, I haven't painted her nails since she was able to put her hands on her mouth. I moved to her toes but stopped when she could put them in her mouth too. And I'm constantly next to her.

If it is ketoacidosis, she is more likely to get when she eats large amounts of foods vs eating very little food because it comes from not enough insulin to break the food down into usable energy.

Really random - but I remember you had painted her nails when she was a newborn? Was she around any nail polish remover the day you smelled it?

@Mrs. Chipmunk: @matador84: @MrsRcCar: sorry, totally forgot to update. They said since she had no other symptoms to call back today if she still had the breath and they will do a blood and a urine test. But just in case, I made sure she ate really healthy and filling foods over the holiday. Really hope it's not blood sugar related..

My baby is 9.5 months and has had acetone breath tonight. She is still nursing but has eaten crackers, a banana and a piece of pizza today. I can't find much on google. Just wondering if this warrants a after hours call to the dr?
