Good idea! I will try to split it and take one pill in the morning and one at night. I knew this would be an issue because I have a hiatial hernia, and the extra pressure on my stomach isn't helping one bit. Ugh! And I agree, water -- which is so important -- makes it even worse. It's awful! I used to just pop my pills and be on my way. Not with this bulging stomach :(

Can you switch your meds to evening since it will probably be worse from lying down at night no matter what you eat? I didn't have any luck with soothing foods, so I'm no help here. Maybe a small bedtime snack?

Sugar (and carbs) is a big trigger for me as well. And once I get it, water makes it worse.

I think the best way I've kept it at bay is eating small snacks constantly instead of larger meals. If I go too long without eating I also get it.

@Paddington10: So sorry you are dealing with this. I am, as well. I take six tums max a day and am trying to avoid anything else. I stay away from citrus foods and anything tomato based. But I can't tell what else is triggering mine. It seems like I wake up with it, also. I don't have any advice but I'm sure following along here.

When do you take your reflux medicine?

I take Zantac 150mg at night. That usually makes sleeping more bearable. I thought my reflux had gone away after giving up gluten...until I got pregnant! I'm back on it every other day now.

So I've had GERD (chronic reflux) for years, easily enough managed by a RX dose of Prevacid which my dr advised I could continue through pregnancy. This worked fine til a week or so ago. As I get bigger, the RX dose doesn't do much esp at night, when I wake up to pee and have insane heartburn!! I then gulp some Tums. So I'm probably on 3 Tums plus rx meds per day!! Wondering if anyone has advice on foods to eat that could neutralize the acid. I heard aloe juice was great -- then read that it caused uterine contractions, so I will be returning it promptly. Also worrying that I am causing major throat/esophagus damage! OW!!!!!
