Though the poop may make this different, but DS had that and it was acne but it did NOT go away on its own. We were just trying to wash a lot and keep him clean but it kept getting worse. Finally we took him for a regular checkup and the Dr told us to put hydrocortisone cream on it. Basically, don't assume it will go away in its own!

@travellingbee: yeah it was bad but I don't recall it lasting weeks.
Concerning your diet change: I remember my doc telling me that a change in diet wouldn't be noticed until 2 weeks or so, so maybe your lucky and it's only diary?

@travellingbee: I agree, that kinda looks allergy related. When our son was MSPI (has grown out of both allergies thankfully) our dietician recommended an app called Scanavert. You make a profile with what you are avoiding, scan bar codes, and it'll tell you if you can eat it or not. Sometimes, it'll recommend a substitute.

DD has that. Our ped said DD's looked more eczema related. I started washing her face and using the aveeno moisturizer and it's a lot better. I was worried about dairy as well because she had a few days of green stools that looked like it had a bit of mucous. Interestingly, those seem to coincide with her silent reflux symptoms and if she doesn't get her zantac exactly on schedule. She still gets eczema flare ups when she gets sweaty or lays against different textures when sleeping.

@Golden: I do like plain almond milk so I'm good there. It's all the packaged foods and baked goods I have issues with. I hate having to limit my diet so much. :(

ETA: yeah, I did do it with my DS1 so I remember. I just hated doing it.

@travellingbee: you'll have to look up a list of all the hidden names for dairy. It's tricky at first but totally doable. Modified milk ingredients are in almost all packaged foods.

One more thing. cashew milk is a great sub. I use Silk brand but it's all I will put n my coffee now and I can actually drink a glass of it which is not the case for so many other substitutes.

@Golden: Oh yes stuffiness too but I thought he'd had a cold. Hmmm... I go to the doctor on thursday. I guess I can ask more then. Until then, I suppose I ought to try to cut it all out. Boo....

Sounds like it's time to get more serious. All dairy all soy. My son cleared up within a few days. The difference is incredible. No cassin, no modified milk and no soy. That's an allergy for sure.

Could be mspi... It was the first symptom for my LO, the green and bloody diaper followed a week later. Never had any reflux. Hope little dude gets better soon!

@Golden: Oh. :( He has had green poo. Some mucus in his poop and spit up/lots of gas. My first son had copious amounts of spit up and I had to go off dairy. I never saw a rash with him though. When I saw the mucus in this LO's poop I went off overt dairy but haven't been super good at looking at labels etc. Just cut creamer, milk, cheese and yogurt.

G's acne looks like that when she gets worked up. So if she's been crying it can look like that. At clearing up now at almost 7 weeks but that's exactly what it looked like. The ped saw it and just mentioned that it was acne.

Any othersymptoms? Looks like it could be MPSI allergy but only if you're noticing other symptoms like stuffy nose, lots of spit up, green poo, etc.

My 4 week old has this terrible "acne" but now I'm wondering if it's a rash. I wash clothes in free and clear 7th generation detergent and use mild baby soap when I bathe him (which isn't often- every few days or so). But I did start wearing a new perfume and was wondering if that could be it? It's a very angry rash on cheeks, chin, chest and back.
