I'm on Weight Watchers, and they have a modified plan for nursing moms. You basically get more points (calories) and more dairy. Weight Watchers is definitely the most reasonable, well-rounded diet plan, so if they think it's okay, I'd say go for it!

a lot of women hold onto that last 10 lbs of weight until they wean because their bodies are perhaps holding onto that extra fat to provide for nursing.

i don't think it will impact your lo significantly if you diet/exercise right now. for me, diet has a much bigger impact on weight loss than exercise does. lots of veggies and lean meats seem to do the trick!

The month after RJ was born was the one and only time in my entire life that weight just fell off.... but it was because I was exclusively nursing AND I had just zero appetite after giving birth. I think it was a couple of months before I was actually eating meals again.

But even though I lost all but 5 lbs in the first month alone, like @yin I had (and still have) a pooch that will just not budge, and because of it none of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit at all. In fact, I don't wear any pants that don't have an elastic waist. Thank god leggings are in style :)

Since I'm ok with the rest of my body for now, I'm going to wait til after I'm done having kids, then address the pooch then!

While the scale tells me that I have returned back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I certainly don't look like it. I have a pooch that bothers me to no end, and I keep telling myself that it will magically go away once I stop breastfeeding. I'm delaying my need to lose the pooch, which is probably going to hurt me in the long run.

I find Nursing makes me hungry so I snack a lot. Te weight comes off if I'm snacking healthy like carrots and yogurt and almonds. As soon as I break out the cookies the weight jumps up again (darn holiday sweets!)

1. drink lots of water
2. sleep
3. eat lean meats (fish, chicken)
4. lots of fruits and green veggies
5. chia seeds! these suckers really curb the appetite. I'm ravenous 24/7 since i'm still nursing. really helps.
6. don't eat after 6:30.
7. I haven't worked out much, but when I find myself at a plateau, I'll do some dvd workouts. (Insanity, Jillian's 30 day shred. It's only 20 mins long).

I had to try to lose it! Check my 50 lbs lost thread! I suggest doing Jillian's 30 day shred. It's only 20 mins a day. Helped jumpstart my weight loss. I was holding on to 20 lbs! Now I'm back down to pre-baby!

LO is almost 5 months old and is exclusively breastfed. I'm still holding on to 12-15 lbs of pregnancy weight and it's now starting to bother me. Is the weight supposed to just fall off on its own? I want to actively attempt to do something about it but I feel like dieting/exercise and trying to lose weight isn't really necessary (or even expected) if I'm still nurishing my baby.

Thoughts?
