I guess it's sort of a good middle ground of early enough for one nappersbut late enough for two nappers. But whatever I'm not a morning person and I want the world to revolve around me!

I probably could put her down a little earlier some days, but we usually walk with Dh and the dog to the train in the morning and I don't want to miss that family time. Whine whine.

When they go down to one nap 10:30 is good although I prefer even earlier.

@illumina: agree! I have 2 kids and if we didn't get out of the house for a 1030 activity then my older child would be bored or too hungry for lunch to do something later. I would let my younger child sleep 8:45-10:15 and wake her up to go to activities. Then both children would nap at the same time in the pm.

I'm a trainer (not the fitness type - clearly! - but the classroom kind) and 10.30 is a magical time for trainers and activity organisers! It means that you can get up at a normal time, drop your kid at daycare, get to the venue and set up without rushing around too much. All my sessions are at 10.30am! I wonder if this is why all the activities are at this time?!!

In my parenting experience, no time is a good time! If she's not napping early/late/long/too short, she is eating or pooping or not letting me get a shower or wiping her food into her eyebrows (what is WITH that?!). By the time I've got everything done, she's tired again.

@Foodnerd81: we found that if we cut the morning nap short, she'll nap longer in the afternoon to make up for it. Not always, but most of the time :)

@illumina: her morning nap is the long one so I'm just not willin to mess it up for most things. Meanwhile the stretch from end of afternoon nap to bedtime sometimes feels really long!

10.30 could be ok for us, just about. She goes down for the nap about 9.30, but I could put her down a little earlier I guess. If it were something I really wanted I do I would wake her earlier on that day and shift the schedule a little.

My daughter just wakes up super early and needs her AM nap early. She usually naps from 8-9:30, give or take 30 minutes in either direction. So 10:30 works for us!

@Foodnerd81: I remember having the same problem- but then they go to one nap and 10:30 is perfect! For us that was 11m

At 17 months, 10:30 works for us, provided it's nearby - we can get there for the activity and get home for a quick lunch and then nap. I'd prefer 9:30 or 10 though. She likes her nap by 12:15!

I am really wanting to do more activities with C, but everything seems to be at 10:30. Why?

Obviously, I have only experienced parenting from the ages of newborn to 9.5 months, but at no point so far has 10:30 been a good time for us! She usually wakes up from morning nap right around then, so we can never do anything. I know, woe is me.

At what age does 10:30 become a magical perfect time for story hour, music class, everything else? I am assuming it does, eventually, since 90% of the activities I'm seeing for 0-3 year olds are at that time.
