I actually just went to an acupuncture appointment today to help regulate my cycle after going off the pill. I've done acupuncture for my colitis and it helped greatly. Hopefully this will help relieve some stress and get my cycle back on track.

i saw an acupuncturist every week for six months, exercised at least 20 minutes/day, and followed a low-GI diet prior to my first (and successful) IVF cycle. i was not overweight by any means, but i wanted to be as healthy as possible before i got pregnant. i'm really glad i did because my pregnancy has been pretty tough on my muscles and joints!

I totally believe in acupuncture. I did it to regulate my cycle and got preggo within 2 months (along with taking Provera and herbs).

I'm going tonight to my third accupuncture treatment. It relaxes me and I'm hoping it will help with my IVF cycle in the next month or two when we start! I figure it can't hurt and I've heard so many positive stories about it, so I'm giving it a shot.

I am a true believer in acupuncture. I used acupuncture solely for TTC and was preparing for an IVF cycle when I got my BFP! I find it extremely relaxing and it gives me an escape too from my "worries."

Hey There! A friend of mine had been TTC for 10 years and had no luck, she has PCOS. She couldn't afford IVF and had given up until she found an accupuncturist that specialized in fertility. She went for 3 months and got pregnant, but miscarried at 6 weeks. She went back and got pregnant a few months later and is now a happy momma as of September!
Hubby & I have been TTC for 14 months and my cycles had started to get really long (60 days for one & 69 for another). So, I went to the same accupuncturist 3 months ago and started treatment. While we still aren't pregnant, my cycles have improved and I feel so much more relaxed. We just started seeing an RE who actually works in conjunction with our accupuncturist.
I was not a believer in Eastern medicine, but I think if you find the right accupuncturist it is definitely worth it!!! At least give it a try for a few months to see what you think.

I heard acupuncture is common in TTCing gals. I don't know if it works but they seem to love it. I've never tried it though. I should.

I am a believer too, I used acupuncture to help me get off a steroid inhaler after a long viral lung infection. We also ramped up my digestion and sorted out my cycles using herbs. I also used it get labor going.

I drank Chinese herbs on and off for 3 months before my bfp which worked out because my dr said "if you aren't pregnant within 3 months of seeing me I can't help you." the herbs were specialized to maximize my chances of getting pregnant. What i noticed was that it made me ovulate earlier. During the months i took the herbs i O on CD12. My husband also took herbs to help his swimmers and he said he totally saw the difference. Though it was worth it, the herbs tasted horrible!!! We didnt get the pill form, our acupuncturist ground up everything for us fresh to mix with water.

My husband swears by accu for pain. He had shoulder pains for years and no one could help him, 1 trip to a acupuncturist and he was pain free.

I'm Asian but never put that much credibility into acupuncture until I got a mini stroke a few years ago and suffered bell's palsy as a result. The western doctors just gave me some steroids and told me to wait it out...but when that didn't seem to help, I went to an acupuncturist. The treatments, in addition to the herbs, got rid of the bell's palsy in record time.

I was also treated with acupuncture after my 2nd trimester miscarriage, and continued to take herbs through my pregnancy with Claire. My mother also tells me that almost all her friends who suffered from infertility were able to have children with acupuncture and herbs. I wasn't a believer before, but I definitely am now.

So my advice is that if you can swing it, go for it. But at the same time, do the research first. Go to infertility boards where there is always talk of acupuncture and ask for recommendations. Acupuncture and Eastern medicine can work wonders, but it can do a lot of harm as well so it's imperative that you go to a well-trained and experienced doctor. One of the best signs of a good doctor of Eastern medicine is at the initial visit, when they take your pulse. According to Eastern medicine, the pulse can tell a doctor almost everything there is to know about the body. I've seen Eastern doctors diagnose some crazy (but accurate!) stuff just from the pulse!

Best of luck to you!

i was getting acupuncture for back pain and i found out i was pregnant with charlie. my acupuncturist specializes in fertility acupuncture, but i was already pregnant when i started to see her. she has helped women who have had unsuccessful ivf's get pregnant with acupuncture. i'm definitely a believer!

I did it during months 3 and 4 of TTC because I was getting impatient and thought if nothing else that it would help with stress. The guy I went to isn't an 'expert' on fertility like some places say they are and I only went 4 times in all. I do think it helped with stress. I'm not pregnant, but I don't think he was the right person. There's another place where I live that specializes in it, but it's considerably more expensive so I'm going to wait a bit to do that.

i did mini-acupuncture. (not needles, just pressure points) didn't help, i don't think. a friend of my mom told me to keep pressing like 2-3 inches from my ankles to better circulate something..... they also wanted me to drink some tea sorta thingamajig. i've even tried hanyak (some korean nasty stuff)..... nothing worked, except ivf. =)

but i did see that there were books out there where acupuncture really helped women increase their chances of getting pregnant. i'm sure it doesn't hurt.

good luck!!!!

Has anyone done acupuncture to help TTC, and did it help you?

I did acu and herbs for a few months before we started treatment with the RE. I think it helped straighten out my cycle, but obviously, no pg. I think I'm going to schedule some more acu around my ivf procedures, but the research is so inconclusive that I'm feeling kind of wishy-washy on it. Any thoughts or advice?
