@HolisticMama: Thanks for the info! I'll have to try it! Maybe I will like having people there. It sounds like it might feel "warmer" and less clinical in a way, if that make sense. :)

@Jenn23: The comfy chairs might seal the deal for me!

@LindsayInNY: Let us know if you try it!

I did community acupuncture for a few months leading up to my IVF cycle, then private sessions before and after my IVF embryo transfer. I loved both. I felt a little weird at first doing the community acupuncture since there were quite a few of us in the same room, but quickly got used to it, then loved it. The chairs were comfy, the relaxing music and dark lighting was awesome and I almost fell asleep quite a few times and always left feeling amazing!!! I hope you all like it, as I did. Oh, and you can't beat the price. Much cheaper!

I found a community acupuncture place about 20 minutes away that's $20 a visit. Plus Saturday hours! I might call for an appointment one of these weekends...

@Mrs. Chickadee: I actually really like that other people are in the room. I hated being left alone when I went to a private acupuncturist. Most community acupuncture places offer eye masks (that they wash after each use) to help you relax. However, it's easy for me to just shut my eyes when I get treatment. I feel so calm and wonderful.

In fact, I just had treatment today. She has a couple noise machines going and meditation music so it's a really peaceful.

Has anyone else tried it?

Like MrsMcD I really wanted it to cost $10, haha! I've considered going to a community one because they are so much more affordable, but wasn't sure if it would be weird with everyone else in the room. I'm not the best relaxer in these types of settings so I'm worried I would just be looking at everyone!

@whatsarahsaid: @LittleLashesToes: I liked it but I'm not sure I need it. The acupuncturist pretty much told me my issue was stress and he saw no issue besides that keeping me from conceiving. So, instead of acupuncture, DH is giving me a budget for spa visits.. which definitely de-stresses me... :)

I have had acupuncture pretty regularly for awhile, primarily to treat chronic migraines. Mostly, the needles don't hurt whatsoever... unless one is inserted at a "trigger point" that is connected to the area of my body that is in extreme pain. Then it can sting when inserted, and may even leave a light bruise. That is the exception and not the rule. Usually it's highly relaxing, it warms me all over, and I wind up falling asleep.

I went for a year to conceive A and have just started going again but to a different person. Both times I had a,long chat with them about my general health, sleep, stress etc. They always ask about BM, which kills me, and they look at my tongue. When I was TTC #1, the guy put needles in my abdomen, wrists, head, feet and legs and I took herbs twice a day too. He played music during the sessions to help me relax. This time, the acupuncturist massages my abdomen during the treatment and needles go in my feet and ears. They are a bit uncomfortable going in, but then they feel nice, like there's warm energy flowing round my body. Because it's the only time I'm away from LO and it's also a massage, this time it feels a bit like a spa treatment, lol. That said, on Saturday I had to bite my lip not to laugh when she started moving a tuning fork over my body. I have to say though it felt really good! Good luck!

Ohhh...so cool! I have been a handful of times and have an appointment tomorrow night after work. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. If for nothing else than the hour of relaxation it gives me. I walk out of my appointments feeling so relaxed and at ease. I was in a really horrible place after my 2 MC's in the past year but since I have been to accupuncture I feel like my head is clearing and I am in a better place. It has somehow allowed me to slow my negative thinking down and just focus on the now. I have also noticed that I have been sleeping better.

As far as the needles...I don't feel any pain at all. I mean...totally painless.

I used to go--I made the appt for fertility but then got pregnant right beforehand and kept going throughout my pregnancy. I liked it. For me there was WAY more talking/listening about my body, diet, and health history than I was used to with other healthcare providers, which was awesome. I would be prepared for them to suggest herbs/supplements to accompany the acupuncture therapy and you might want to think about whether or not you're up for that. I was not, at the time, but might have been later, I think?

Needles didn't really hurt, and the whole experience was very relaxing.

I went for a reason other than fertility at first, so we talked a bit at the beginning of the appointment about what I was hoping to accomplish (easing off a steroid inhaler for a lung infection, digestive issues), if I would also consider using herbs either in a tea or pill form..and then we just dove right in.
