So an update, I saw my accupunturist today at lunch and she clarified some things. If someone asks her to induce labor, she has to decline but she does have a pre-labor session series leading up to the due date. (It's scheduled about a month before the DD.) Also, I took it the wrong way when she said she doesn't see pregnant woman during pregnancy. What she meant is that she didn't want people to think they HAD see her throughout their pregnancy, but since I enjoy going to see her I could continue treatments while pregnant. (She didn't want people to think if they didn't go see her during pregnancy that someone would happen to the baby, so that's probably why she told me that before.) So I'm happy to hear that. Also, she said she can help with post-labor, too. She can help my body relax after giving birth since going into labor is so traumatic to the body. So not necessarily for post-partum but for general post labor sessions to treat stress and fatigue. I'm so happy to hear this from her.

I went weekly from 36 weeks til my due date. I had acupuncture and moxa treatments.

I don't think it helped me tbh. My water started with a v v slow leak on the morning of my due date, I had an acupuncture session that afternoon - and yet there were still no signs of any sort of contractions starting by the evening of the day after when they insisted on inducing.

It can't hurt but I don't think I'll bother with it next time

I asked my fertility acupuncturist about this last week and she told me that she can't do this anymore. Her insurance provider that protects her from liability, has told her to stop inducing labor by accupuncture. I guess the insurance company wants to prevent cases where mothers will sue.

This was so sad to hear. I've been seeing my accupunturist for over 2 years for TTC/IF, and she's told me in the past that she's done this for her patients.

She said she can still treat me for nausea but generally if I'm feeling well during the pregnancy she doesn't like to treat me. As sad as it's sounds, it's sad that I won't be able see her as much if I get pregnant. I've seen this woman about 2-3 times a month (sometimes 4). Maybe I'll see if she can treat me for stress or fatigue while pregnant.

My accupuncturist said you should be going for 3 months prior to your due date for the best results if you want to use acupuncture to induce labor.

I'm sure it can't hurt to get things started!!!

Pretty sure it worked for me with DS. I turned on acupressure induction videos in YouTube, DH did it like they did on the video and my water broke at 40 weeks a few hours later. Not convinced it was a coincidence!

With my first, I went at 40+4 and 40+6. I started losing my plug on 40+4 before the appt, and my long labor started at 40+6 after my second appt. Baby was born 41+2.

With my second, I'm due tomorrow. I went three times this week already- Monday, Tuesday, and today- and nothing yet. Still holding out hope though.

Not sure if there's a correlation with my first labor or if anything will come of it this time, but if nothing else it makes me feel better about this out of control, nearly-overdue feeling and was worth it.

I did it but baby did not want to come out! I ended up having a complication instead and had a C-section. :-(

Yup I did it the day before I went into labor. We had to "show the baby the way out." Needles in the belly, some lit on fire.

I went - labor started within 24 hours. I only went once - she placed sticky beads on my ear at specific pressure points and told me to message them regularly.

I THINK it worked for me.

I went once at 37 weeks, once at 38 weeks. Then at 39 + 2, and 39 + 3 ... I went into labor at 39 +4. I found an acupuncturist who specialized in fertility and cervical ripening. My labor was only 6 hours start to finish, and maybe it had something to do with it.

I tried this a couple times after I hit 40 weeks but it didn't do much for me :( The practitioner told me that everyone reacts differently to the treatment. I ended up taking castor oil - which DID work with no side effects.

Not me, but a girlfriend of mine did acupuncture to induce and had her little guy about 15 hours later! She was not in labour at all before going, and said that about 6 hours later it started and came fast!

I went to 'prepare' for labour with my second at about 38 weeks, went twice. No idea if it did anything, but my entire labour was about 2.5 hours long (born within about 15 minutes of arriving at the hospital!)

I didn't do acupuncture, but I did have reflexology done to induce labor and it worked for me (I think? No way to really know for sure what would have happened if I hadn't had it done...). The guy I went to was known as the "baby guy" as several women went into labor after seeing him .

ETA I saw him on a wednesday afternoon and my water broke at 5am thursday morning. I did have an appt that Tuesday with my OB where she stripped my membranes.

Anyone tried this? If so, did it work? How many times did you go, and how soon after a session did the magic happen (ie. Regular contractions, water breaking, whatever)?
