apparently kiwi fruit is great for constipation in babies, so if you have it available where you are maybe give it a try.

Aren't prunes just dried plums? We made plum purée and LO loved it.

Earth's Best makes stage 1 organic prunes in a glass jar and it's very thin. I always keep a jar or two in the pantry for emergencies and it works every time (too well).

@Mrsbells: Fair enough! I know there are also puréed prune pouches if your son likes pouches - they were impossible to find in Canada but I got the sense that they're pretty common in the US.

The premade puree is easy, and you can also puree your own-just soak them in warm water first. But I agree that an ounce or two a day should do it. The most effective way I found was an ounce of juice mixed with an ounce of warm water in a bottle, but you can also make the formula then just add am ounce to it.

@Mrsbells: yep I didn't realize it at first either. I always kept a jar or two on hand when sue was little (and honestly keep it around now that LO is two). I found it was good to take one traveling as well. She always got backed up when we travelled. I can mix it into a PBJ now that she's okder

@gingerbebe: I have been making his purees so i wasnt even aware that there is a premade prune puree. I already bought the juice so i'll see how that goes first

The thing that I found best for fixing W's constipation was a puréed pear (skin on) mixed with a spoonful of ground flax. I put it into a pouch.

Can he not have prune purée? It's pretty thin and can be eaten alone or mixed in with his other solids, like cereal.

I think an ounce of prune juice in a bottle twice a day would be plenty.

Have any of you done this? How much do you add. DS isnt as regular now that he started solids and sometimes seems constipated. HIs daycare said the same thing and suggested prune or apple juice. With DD I would give her actual prunes and she was good at eating them chopped up but DS has such a strong gag reflex I dont see him doing well with eating prunes.
