Update: I finished Course 2 today with an A! It took a lot more time and energy than the first course but I still managed to do it. Thanks for the push ladies! Half way to certificate completion.

I also got that promotion I thought I was going to get (along with a healthy raise). Woohoo!

@blackbird: I did a big batch of protein this past weekend, but just forgot how many portions of everything I would need (I am dragging DH along for the ride too!). But you're so right . . . planning and prepping on the weekend is the key to weekday success and long-term success!

@mslipgloss, if you do the majority of that prep on weekends, it DRASTICALLY frees up your week. It's amazing how little I 'cook' during the week because I do a lot of it while DH and LO watch football on Sundays.

What about books on CD? Not sure if your reading is available that way, but audioCDs are a great option

@looch: I did the reading for the first course on the bus and train. My current commute is 10 minutes faster by car (75 min vs 85 min) and those 10 minutes make a difference in daycare pickup. I'm moving this weekend and hoping to discover I can do public transit again.

I agree with the pps . . . You Can Do Eeeeeeeet! It sounds like a great opportunity, and I bet you will be so happy that you did it!

My recent addition to my already full plate has been clean eating . . . which requires planning and being motivated to *do the right thing* even when I am tired and don't feel like it . . . you know, the *adult* thing to do! Although I am tired at the end of the day (I am responsible for about 95% of all things LO-related), at the end of the day, I still plan out the next day (or two) and cook a little something (like a protein) in batches and pre-pack the things I will need into containers. I am averaging about 30-40 minutes a day. Add that in to getting up about 20 minutes earlier to make sure I get my a.m. started off right, I am looking at about an hour a day. The results? This is only the first week, but I am already down 5 pounds. My only regret is that I didn't start sooner! Giving up that hour (although I am not really giving anything up, I am just doing something different with my time!) has been worth it so far . . . if for no other reason than I already feel better and I am so proud of myself for being disciplined. :D

You can do it! I'm currently working on my Master's, which work is paying for, and there are definitely days when I have no idea how I can do it all! But like @blackbird: said, this will not go on forever, and I know I will be so proud that I was able to finish my graduate work, and so will you!!

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! I talked to DH about it and I'll tell work I'm in tomorrow.

@blackbird: "It IS temporary!!!" You're right, keeping that idea in mind got me through pregnancy, labor, and colic. Maybe I need a tattoo that says "This is temporary." Oh wait, that's too ironic. That must already be a thing.

It's a great opportunity! DH is working 50 hours a week and pursuing a masters-I am very supportive and pick up the slack so to speak :)

Last year I started an online graduate level certificate program in my field. It’s a four course program. I took the first course last year but then I took a break to have LO in February. Now I have the opportunity to jump back in the program in January for course #2.

Rather unbelievably, work is paying for the program. They were surprisingly cool about me taking a break last year but if I recommit to this program I’m sure they would expect me to complete it. I think my boss could parlay me getting this certificate into a promotion. On the other hand, I think I will get the promotion anyway.

The thing is I just don’t know where I will get the time for the program. I ended up spending 8-10 hours a week on course #1. I just don’t know where I’m going to come up with that kind of time with a job, commute & toddler. Also weighing on my pro/com list is that I might want to get pregnant somewhere in the next year.

I'm leaning towards doing it but I need a little push. Any words of wisdom? Have you added to your overloaded plate & survived?
