@Mrs. Polish: google uber swaddle. It is the best. Doesn't require A+ A but they do achieve it best. Most secure swaddle method I know of....

I hate them for swaddles -- DS breaks out every time -- and prefer the miracle blanket. But they are great, breathable blankets, nursing covers, car seat covers, burp cloths, tummy time/play date blankets and general wiper-uppers. They're cute and very soft. We have 8 of the 47x47 ones and use (and wash) them constantly.

Having a summer baby they were perfect for sooo many things. They were a great cover to keep some sun off of her, thin enough that I didn't worry about her roasting, I used it as a nursing cover, and a blanket to keep wind off of her when it wasn't cold. So I loved the fabric for summer.
But the size is great too. When they're super tiny it seems like a lot but it just folds and gets tucked away. We used a monkey print swaddle in the hospital and it was so much cuter than the hospital swaddles, she looked like she was in a little cloud.

Their size and breathable fabric make them useful for so many things! We love them and just bought more at six months...she doesn't get swaddled anymore. We used Halo sleep sacks for the best/easiest swaddles but A&A occasionally too.

we used them for swaddling at naps until he was 7 months old!

we also used them a LOT for covering the carseat -- esp in the car with the bright sunlight. it was breathable and large enough to tuck tightly so it didn't fly off with the windows down.

we also use it to put over his head when he needs to nap in the carrier.

we only had 4, and that was juuussst enough, but i will buy one more pack when LO#2 arrives in august :)

We liked the Miracle Blanket for swaddling, and it probably won't have the fabric issue you're describing, since you can make it so the part right by his neck is in more of a "v" shape. But we use the A&A blankets for all sorts of other things - we always have one in his stroller/carseat to keep him warm (usually with a heavier blanket on top as it's been cold). In the summer it will be a great blanket for outside as it's thin.

We use a woombie and it may be that he isn't big enough for it yet, but he can push the fabric up toward his face and I don't like it.

I never got the hang of swaddling w/ thes because there is so much fabric and my baby was TINY. We used the velcro swaddlmes and the miracle blanket.

we had to use the sleep sacks to swaddle, and even those she managed to break out of. next baby i may try the woombie! i like the A+A to pack for nursing covers, and she sleeps with two in her crib as 'lovies'.

We love them! They stretch much better and are huge. DH hates the other ones we have. He can get the A&A much tighter which she loves.

They're great blankets with many uses, but we never thought they were that great for swaddling. LO broke out every time. If you're going after a great swaddle, I would check out the Miracle Blanket and Woombie.

@Mrs. Polish everything that @hilsy85 said.

We actually found that as he got older th A+A swaddles worked better than anything else. We used the 'Super Swaddle' Technique until he started rolling onto him tummy at night. It is quick, easy and they cannot get out! Link to video:

http://youtu.be/2LgAksqnSrw

Hmm...I think it's that they're very big (47"x47"), they're thin/breathable, and they have some stretch to them, which makes it possible to get a good swaddle. but they are good for sooo much more than just swaddling. Sun shades, blankets when it's cool, blanket for tummy time, wiping drool, using as a lovey...the uses are really endless. We love ours! And they are so cute :)

That being said, once LO got older (like 2.5 months) we needed a more heavy duty swaddle, so we used an A&A blanket with a swaddle me/velcro swaddle.

I've heard that these are the best swaddles in the world. Can anyone with experience tell me what makes them so different from other swaddles?
