Thanks for the input everyone. I found some swaddleme brand muslin blankets on clearance the other day, so I bought them to try out before buying the aden and anais brand. They worked wonders so I think I'm making a trip to Target soon.

I have the aden and anais for target blankets, they are good but the fabric is so light that its easy for my LO to get her arms out. I ended u having to buy some regular receiving blankets as well.

Totally worth it, and they're cheaper on Amazon. You can get four for $35 http://www.amazon.com/aden-anais-Muslin-Swaddle-Jungle/dp/B002SW3B0O/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1336675782&sr=1-2

The muslin is great because baby won't overheat. They're larger, so it's easier to swaddle (though it take a bit of practice to get the art of wrapping it down perfectly. Sometimes I still have to rewrap him, but it gets easier). The muslin adds a bit of stretch so it's easier to pull around their body.

The prints are adorable, they're soft, and they're absorbent too. I use them as burp cloths when I have nothing else on hand. like a pp said, they are great to strollers, and a light blanket in the car too.

My little sister is 7 and claimed the A&A blankets as her security blankets. She still carries them around -she is in love! She can't sleep without it.

I could do without any other baby blanket, but I NEED my Aden and Anais blankets.

Totally worth it! Our absolute favorites and we haven't bothered using any of our others since the A&A ones are so much better. They are the right size and super soft- DD loves them too.

HECK YES. Liv has 17 of them. Not an exaggeration. 17, Shes 9.5 months old now and not swaddled anymore, and we still use them for stroller covers, nursing covers, lightweight blankets, sun cover, etc.. Love them

I got both Aden + Anais and the Ultimate Receiving Blanket. The A&A's are perfect for summer since they're airy, big, and soft. The other ones are cotton flannel (like what you get at the hospital but a lot bigger), and a little thicker than normal receiving blankets, they're good for chilly nights.

I love them both kinds and can't wait to try them when the baby arrives.

I didn't buy the A+A swaddle blankets until after DS was born. I thought I couldn't justify the price for a few blankets. I found 2 for sale at a children's resale store and found that I was wrong!

The A+A blankets are much larger than receiving blankets. They're also made of muslin which is thinner and is breathable. I never worried about overheating with them. I loved them and wished I had bought them from the beginning.

I bought a pack of the SwaddleMe muslin swaddle blankets and they were a waste of money! They were two small for swaddling and got all scrunched up after they were washed/dried.

I agree with @zippylef. They're super light weight and breathable. You can use them to swaddle or also use them as stroller blankets. They're really easy to fold up and carry (super light). And they wash really well. I've had the same Aden blankets for 2 years (washed weekly) and they're still as soft as ever. And the size is nice and large. The receiving blankets that I have are smaller and not as breathable. My son carries his Aden blanket around everywhere. It's his lovey now.

They are much larger than traditional receiving blankets, they stretch just a bit for a good tight swaddle, they are muslin and thus breathe well so overheating isn't as much of a risk, and they get softer over time. We used two with no PJs at night, just a diaper. We'd swaddle once and then put a second swaddle over it and my son only broke out of it a handful of times.

I like them because the are a really good size, super soft and lightweight and breathable enough that I don't feel paranoid about LO overheating or smothering herself.

I started a thread on swaddling, and a lot of you mentioned Aden and Anais blankets. I was curious what makes them so much better than a receiving blanket (I've had no luck swaddling with them), and if they are worth the price. thanks!
