I was just diagnosed with ADD (inattentive only) but I have found it hard to talk to folks - both professional and personal relationships - about it out of embarrassment, to be honest. Medication + therapy is helping me a lot but I am just letting the folks I work with think I am especially on it lately :)

But if they do know you have ADHD, I would maybe tell them you are having to change your treatment for health reasons and that they may notice some differences in the transition? I don't think you have to say you are pregnant.

Have you talked to your doctor about it? I think there are some medications that are safer to take while pregnant than others.

@Braveturtle: Does your employer know about your ADHD and your meds? If so, I would definitely tell them that you've had to come off the meds so they understand why you are not as productive right now.

I don't have ADHD but I've also found it hard to concentrate at work (I'm 9 weeks too). I'm totally distracted and, coupled with serious baby brain (I'm so scatterbrained right now), I'm not performing well at work! I decided it was best to tell my team and my boss early so they knew it was just a temporary blip and they treated me gently over the next few weeks.

I would tell them as long as you are also comfortable sharing if you lose the pregnancy, that's how I looked at it, a bit doom & gloom but reality I guess - so I waited until about 13/14 weeks with each. I think waiting a few more weeks might be wise.

I have pretty serious ADHD and I was taking Adderall for the last two years, which made an incredible difference in my productivity at work. I work in a residential facility with teens in foster care, and it is really fast paced and unpredictable. I stopped taking my medication as soon as I found out I was pregnant, and between that and the hormones and whatever else, my work is sliding already. (I'm 9 weeks.) I'm forgetting a lot of things, it's hard for me to stay focused and I'm having a hard time organizing my thoughts. I'm pretty sure it is noticeable to my coworkers, at least a couple of them.

I have not had my first ob appointment yet; it is scheduled for 10/7. I was planning to wait until then to tell my supervisor, but I am wondering if I should tell her sooner. It would be helpful to two of my immediate coworkers to know, since I work very closely with them. Is it too risky to tell my supervisor and coworkers this early?
