We sat outside and gave out candy last year. People didn't come very late. Halloween is on a school night this year, so I doubt they will come after 8 pm. In your case I would just put the candy on the porch.

My kids will go out to trick or treat and probably stay up a little later to check out the kids who drop by. I'm not too concerned about their bedtime. DH or I will handle bedtime routine and the other will continue to pass out treats. Since it's a school night, I'll probably turn off the lights earlier.

We'll put LO to bed as close to 7:30 as possible and turn off our lights. If we still had kids coming the dog would be excited and I want the house to be quiet. I think it worked out ok last year!

We have a big staircase in our front yard so we sit at the bottom and hand out candy. I'll probably do bedtime while DH sits outside and I'll join (with the monitor) when DD is asleep.

Trick or treaters were pretty much done last year by maybe 8 or 8:30. We shut off our lights and left a bucket with our remaining candy at the bottom of our steps so no one would ring the bell, and put LO (newly 2 at the time) to bed by 9, I think. No issues. I'm sure we'll do the same this year. I kind of hate that it is a school night (she goes to preschool T/Th) but I figure losing an hour of sleep is worth a fun Halloween!

Last year DD was 10 months we just walked around the block and shut lights off at 7:30 ish
This year her bedtime is 8 ish so I'll try to stick with that
We will also have a newborn too!

When we just had one kid we had one person do bedtime and the other person sat on the porch and handed out candy. This year with two kids we'll probably just put the bowl of candy outside at 7 and let kids help themselves.

We've always let him stay up a little later on Halloween but his bedtime isn't until 8.

We haven't had trick or treaters yet, but I always have a sign on my doorbell that says please knock, don't ring doorbell. So I imagine I will put the kids to bed and do will stay near the door for when they knock.

LO1s bedtime is 7 and last year he didn't wake up when the door bell rang from 7-8 with trick or treaters. This year he takes more time to fall asleep and LO2 is a more sensitive sleeper. Do you keep your LOs up longer on Halloween, shut your lights out at a certain time, or does the trick or treating not affect your kids bedtime routine?
