Once she starts school she will be so tired that she will go to bed easily, I bet!

My cousins daughter was falling asleep on the couch after school when she first started. Good luck! 😃

Each week move bedtime up about a half hour. You don't want to wait until a week before school starts and you're struggling to get them down too late. Mine have to get up about 645 and I started putting them to bed a half hour early each week for three weeks plus no naps. They go to bed by 8.

I would just start a week before. Excitement and tension (and motivation) will be mounting. My goal would be sleep between 8:15-8:30pm, 10-15 mins earlier every night and then just let the adrenaline of waking up on the first day and the tiredness of school schedule kick in. I bet LO will start dropping like a rock at 8 when school starts!

I'd dedicate a week to making sure that I woke her up earlier (not necessarily exactly the school wake-up time, but closer!) and then do a LOT of outdoor and extra physical activities that whole week to try to make sure she is good and tired by the time whatever early bedtime rolls around.

@Mamaof2: she is SUCH a night owl, she wakes up and is happiest when the sun is setting. So weird. @looch: oh good idea!

Agree to wake her up earlier a little by little - she will naturally be tired earlier at night as a result

@Bao: Good luck!
I think you can kind of prepare the room too, which is what I do with my son. I start by turning off his air purifier and opening the window shades. The natural light alone often wakes him up.

@looch: ok, she doesn't nap so at least that's helpful! She's a little psycho child when she gets woken up, wish me luck ;)

I think you have to wake her up in the morning and not let her nap, even if that means that she's a beast that day because she's tired. This way, she begins going to bed earlier. I'd start with maybe waking her up 15-30 minutes earlier, see how that goes, and then do it in increments until you have the desired time.

My oldest will be starting school full-time this year, which means she will be getting on the bus around 7:30am. Right now she goes to bed between 9:00-9:30 and wakes up about 12 hours later. I obviously need to change this otherwise she will be a monster in the morning. School starts after Labor Day here but I thought I would slowly start adjusting her schedule now. How would you go about doing this? I've tried earlier bedtimes but she just lays there forever or is constantly coming out of bed because she isn't tired.

Tips?
