@brownie: @Seattlemom: I like the idea of topping him up a bit before I head out for work! That might help shift thing back a bit and mean I don't feel like I have to produce quite so much when I pump at work!

@spaniellove: It's so nice to know our guys are on similar schedules - even if the schedules aren't so nice  I do sometimes bring him to bed if he won't go back to sleep, once I go back to work I'll have to get up at 6 anyway so just cuddling with him for a bit before or after he eats could be a way to at least rest a bit longer.

@CakeLady: Agree with @brownie. I'd just do your 530 feed and then do one more feeding right before leaving for work. Ask your care providor not to feed him right before you pick up. But m ake sure they extra milk in case you run late!

Since our LOs are close to the same age

We were getting exhausted with LO waking up at 4-5 and wondering if he could hold out, so I tried getting him to go back to sleep. Since I don't have any tricks for making a hungry baby go back to sleep I ended up bringing him to bed with me at that point! I pretty much lie there awake with him next to me but it does buy me more time...he goes back to sleep and can hold out until 6-7 (after going to bed at 9 and waking around 2 like your situation). It's not for everyone though so I understand if you're not comfortable with that!

I would try adjusting his last feed. Have daycare not feed him at 5:30 and nurse when you get there. He will have eaten all day and hopefully won't be quite as hungry as he is when waking up first thing in the morning.

I also would "top him up" right before leaving for daycare and that may allow that lengthening you need for the last feeding.

@CakeLady: honestly once you aren't nursing the day, his eating during the day and night can change. So I would just go with the flow. Nursing babies will start waking up at night more once Mom goes back to work, cause they miss nursing.

@Smurfette: that's what i figured. i definitely couldn't let him cry out of hunger for longer than the 10 seconds it takes me to get to his room. i guess i just need to wait for him to sleep a bit longer in the morning - which would be nice for so many reasons!

You can try but honestly at that age I don't think you can ask LO to hold off 30 mins.

I'm going back to work in a little more than a week and would like to slightly adjust DS's feeding routine. I've been EBF pretty much on demand while I've been home which amounts to about every 3 hours during the day. His first feeding of the day is around 5:30am (he wakes me up crying) - I'd love it to be 6am because I get home from work at 6pm and would rather feed him myself then have him get another bottle right before I get home. Also means he is more likely to need 3 bottles rather than 4 while I'm away.

Is it possible to try and scoot things back a bit? If so, any suggestions on how to do it? Is this really a sleep issue? (He goes to bed 9/9:30 is waking at 2:30am-ish to eat.)

He is almost 11 weeks and probably about 14lbs.

Any advice is appreciated!
