LO moved to the toddler room when she was about 16 months and it took her a few days to not cry at drop off.

I'm not really sure what we could do to make it easier. They were already starting to bring her over there for short periods about 2 weeks beforehand. A few of her friends moved over a few months that prior. And she made the move with a bunch of friends.

I think maybe it's just the scariness of a different and teachers all day and when they realized it was permanent?

DD is now onto her third room at daycare. When she moved from the baby room (0-18 months) to the toddler room (18-24 months), she had a few days of adjusting to do because she had a brand new schedule to follow. Plus, she only had one other friend in there that she knew so it took some time to adjust. What made it helpful is that for about two weeks prior to the transition, she'd spend a couple of hours in the new room every day to get to know the new teachers and routines. And then at the end of August she moved again from the toddler room to the older toddler room (24-30 months) and they did the same sort of transition process and didn't have a hard time adjusting this time around.

@Freckles: Food is one of our big issues too. They never write down how much of her food she ate and then when I ask whoever is in there usually says something like "oh, I don't know, I was on my lunch break when she ate". HELPFUL.

@MamaMoose: She knows half the kids since two kids moved up with her, and there are two other kids who only recently left her old class. She seems to be hungry, so i'm not sure if they're giving her the food i pack. I may have to speak to the director as well.

We're going through a tough class transition as well. LO seems to be doing fine, but we aren't thrilled with what we're seeing from her new teachers. I'll be meeting with the director to discuss our concerns.

How do your LO's teachers say she does during the day? I would try to identify the specific issues (is she not getting enough nap time in so she's cranky, are there much bigger kids who scare her, etc.) so you can try to address them specifically. Other than that, I think it just takes time for them to adjust to change.

LO recently moved into the Older Baby Room at 18 months. She was okay the first day, only because she probably had no idea what was going on. She napped 2 hours and i thought she did pretty okay!

But the next two days weren't great. DH did the drop off this morning and she clung to his leg when he tried to leave (which NEVER happens). She's also pretty upset when either one of us picks her up.

How long will the adjustment be? Any tips on how to make it easier for her?
