@krispi: I was on Yaz years ago and it worked for me too. I don’t recall spotting and having issues.

It always took my body a few months to adjust, but eventually spotting and random symptoms got better. It was super annoying, because my insurance gave very few options, and kept changing which pill they would cover, so I had to switch and endure the side effects several times not for any medical reason - but that's health insurance for you...

Hope you get it worked out soon :goodluck: :goodluck:

@BUNBUN: I had the same experience. The low dose pill was awful - I spotted constantly and developed anemia. But I had good luck with Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I also had a good experience with Yaz for helping when my PMS symptoms started getting worse.

I had this issue w/ the mini pill. I have PCOS but quit the mini pill. I’ve been on metformin to regulate periods instead of BC.

I started on BCP because of PCOS and had the same exact reaction. I have always had great skin and I got awful acne on my back within a month of starting a very low estrogen BCP, and some on my face. The acne on my back took MONTHS to go away (at least 9 months). I spotted a ton too. I ended up going off after 2 months and decided to just deal with my PCOS symptoms which admittedly aren’t very severe: I have abnormal hair growth, my periods were kind of wonky (they regulated, 26-34 days, and using an app helped to track), and some pain during my periods. For me the side effects of the pill were worse than dealing with my PCOS, but I also knew that was a possibility going into it so wasn’t too bummed.

I would wait out the 3 months if you are committed to treating your symptoms with BCP, and then talk to your doctor about trying something else if the side effects are still bad.

@mrskansas: which pill are you on? I hated the low dose (so much spotting, it was like a constant period), and loved the old-school formulas: ortho tricyclen and ortho cyclen. But I know that folks with migranes and other health issues often need a low dose. I would give talk with your doc about switching to a different pill to see if you even have that option. So many people get weird symptoms with different pills, so I wouldn't hesitate to "shop around" Also, FWIW, friends who have gone off the pill for a while and then went back on sometimes had different symptoms with the same formula, so it's hard to figure out without trying yourself. Good luck! I loved being on the pill

I started taking birth control pills about two months ago for the first time in my life. I have PCOS so I was hoping to control some of the symptoms.
I've been spotting/bleeding for the past month and my normally decent skin has been breaking out non-stop. Should I wait it out (some things I've read said it takes 3 months for things to regulate) or ask my DR about switching?
