I am almost 29 and still go to the dermatologist to get prescription-strength stuff for breakouts--it is the only thing that has ever completely gotten rid of them. It ended up being a lot cheaper for me than constantly buying new over-the-counter products to try and clear them up. I also drink a TON of water, try to never touch my face except for when washing it, use a really mild cleanser and Cetaphil moisturizer, and I think green tea helps a lot as well.

*edit* --> Drinking green tea, that is...I haven't tried green tea in pill form, but I started drinking a cup of green tea a day a couple of months ago and I think it has made a difference,

I use benzyol peroxide spot treatment (just started using it again, I stopped in the 1st tri)and make sure to moisturize morning and night. When I was having persistent small pimples, my dermatologist did prescribe me a topical cream, which seemed to help kick start an improvement. And honestly, birth control helped as well, although that would NOT be so helpful for the TTC aspect. And unfortunately, my skin has gotten much worse since getting pregnant :(

Clean and clear. It works really well for me! The one with the highest salicylic acid in it. Also, the knock of brand of Proactiv... I can't think of what its called right now. I think it is white with orange writing?

I get acne. I wash with cetaphil and the only skin cream I use is also cetaphil. I also did some research and discovered that sometimes you can have a very mild allergy to certain foods and not know it, but it can cause acne. One of the most common culprits is seeds (sesame seeds, flax seeds...) I removed seeds of all kinds from my diet (they're in breads, crackers, granola bars, everything) and it significantly reduced my acne.

Awesome, thanks ladies!
There's no dermatologist in my small town, or anywhere close, so while I do want to see one, I'll have to drive quite a while to get an appointment. I'll head to the doctor and see though - its getting ridiculous!

I'm the same way! When AF comes to visit, so does the acne. And it comes on full force ala HS style. I get so embarrassed! I tried the Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil line and it actually made me breakout even worse! I went to see a derm and they prescribed Solodyn since my acne is hormonal driven - however you can't take this while you're TTC or pregnant. It's a big no-no to the baby. I was also prescribed a topical cream called Epiduo and it seems to dry out the breakouts shortly after they appear. I wash my face with Cetaphil, and occassionally with St. Ives Green Tea exfoliator. The Solodyn seemed to help the most when I was taking it though.

I broke out like crazy when I was pregnant. But I was limited to what I could use, so I had my doctor prescribe something for me.

I noticed that I broke out when I was 10-15lbs over weight. Once I dropped the weight, acne magically stopped appearing.
During my breakouts though, a friend of mine gave me some prescription acne medicine that worked really well!
I think it was called clindamycin.. I'm not completely sure though.
Have you considered going to see a derm?

So, I was always told as a kid that my acne would go away once I hit adulthood. Well, here I am, and I break out like CRAZY between ovulation and my period.

Currently I use the whole Body Shop Tea Tree Oil line, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried and true acne solutions?

I know everyone's skin is a little different, but I'd love to hear what works for you. I'm a little desperate.
