We acted adults (bc we are); and it wasn't like everyone acted like they're 21 and got sloppy wasted. Instead of drinking ice tea, you had a beer or a mixed drink. Once in awhile, everyone toasted with a shot of something or had wine. No biggie. We had over 80 ppl and our party turned out aweseome! I actually don't care for first birthday parties that are full of kids - I think they're really overwhelming for a baby who really doesn't care either way. Our invitation says that doors open at 2, there will be children's entertainment at 2:30, and cake at 3:30. People are welcome to skip the children's entertainment and show up for cake. My inlaw's throw amazing parties that involve karaoke, BBQ, wine, beer, shots and lots of cake, food, and laughter! (Comparible to a small scale block party!) A good time for everyone, both kids and adults. We just can't do it on the same level because our condo is so small. We always have it at a kid friendly place since most of our friends' kids are so much older. Did anyone go this route with first birthday? I mean, as he gets older and is more aware we will definitely have more parties geared towards him, but for now I guess I don't see the point? Any other selfish moms out there use the first birthday as an excuse to have friends over?? </p>
